Many teenagers feel the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe their family members, and in particular(尤其是) their parents, don't know them as well as their friends do. In large families, it's quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for advice. It's very important for teenagers to have good friends or a circle of friends, because friends can discuss something difficult to say to their family members.
However, parents often try to choose their children's friends for them. Some may even stop their children from meeting their good friends. The question of “choice” is interesting. Have you ever thought of the following questions? Who chooses your friends? Do you choose your friends or your friends choose you? Have you got a good friend your parents don't like? Your answers are welcome.

Doctor Seuss was born in 1904. By the middle 1950s, he had become one of the best-loved and most successful children's book writers in the world. His books are very popular with young readers. They enjoy the invented words and the pictures of unusual funny animals and plants.
In l954, Life Magazine published(刊登) a report about school children who could not read. The report said many children's books were not interesting. Doctor Seuss strongly hoped to help children and decided to write books that were interesting and easy to read. He used words with the same ending sound, like fish and wish. He did not receive training in art. Yet, he drew the pictures for most of his books.
In l957, Doctor Seuss wrote The Cat in the Hat. He used less than 230 words to write the book and even a six-year-old should be able to read it. It was a fun stow and easy to read. Children loved it. Their parents loved it, too. Today it is still one of his stories they like best. In l 960, he wrote a book using less than fifty words. The book is called Green Eggs and Ham.
In l984, Doctor Seuss won a Pulitzer Prize(普利策奖). He was honored for the education and enjoyment his books provided American children and their parents.
He died at the age of 87, but his influence remains. Millions of his books have been sold worldwide. People say his books helped change the way American children learned to read. Yet, his books are loved by people of all ages.
Doing homework not only can help children master the knowledge they have learned, but also can train their abilities of finishing the work alone, planning the time and doing the duties. But some children don't like to complete the work. Why?
Some children feel it is very difficult to do their homework, because they can't understand their teacher clearly, and cannot follow their teacher's teaching process (过程). Maybe there is something wrong with their intelligence.
But some children's intelligence is normal. They are even cleverer, but they don't listen to the teacher carefully. It is hard for them to sit well and pay attention to anything.
Some children love their teacher and then like the subject. Their interest depends on the teacher who teaches them. So every teacher should make children love you and the subject you teach. So they can do their homework happily.
He met her at a party. However, she never paid any attention to him. After the party, he invited her for coffee. In order not to be rude, she went along.
In a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything. Suddenly, he asked the writer, "Could you put some salt in my coffee?" The waiter and she looked at him in surprise. "Why salt with coffee?" she asked. "I used to live near the sea. Whenever I drink salty coffee, it reminds me of my hometown and my parents," he answered.
She was touched. A man who is homesick(想家的) must love his home. So she talked with him a lot and slowly found she was just the man she was looking for.
Later they married and lived happily together and every time she made coffee for him, she put in some salt. After 40 years, he passed away and left her a letter, which said, my dearest, please forgive my life-long lie. Remember the first time we met? I was so nervous that I asked for salt instead of sugar Dear, I don't exactly like salty coffee. But having you with me was my greatest happiness.
Sandy has a big family, but she doesn't think her family (live) was happy. She and her brother and sister often fight with each other for many reasons.
Max is Sandy's classmate and neighbor. He also has a very big family with brothers and their parents. Sandy noticed that Max never fights with his brothers. They always have big smiles their faces.
Sandy thought that was (stranger). One day she asked Max they get on well with each other. Max smiled and asked Sandy (go) home with him.
As they came into the house. Max's (old) brother saw them. “Hi, Sandy and Max,” he said, “Why not (come) here and share some ice cream with me?”
At that time, Max's younger brother came out of his room. He looked very excited and said, “Oh, Max, I have a story to tell .”
Sandy knew Max's secret of getting on (good) with his brothers was to share. So Sandy decided to go back home and try this from then on.
