    Some people in the West like to stay at home during their weekends. They work in the garden, visit their friends, read books or watch television. Many families take their lunch to a park or somewhere far from the city. They like to eat under some trees or near a nice lake. If they live near the sea, they often go to the seaside. There they can fish, swim or enjoy the sunshine.

    Some people in the West like travelling. They think travelling and outdoor activities are interesting and exciting. They work hard to save money, but their main purpose is to travel.

    Most Western students often make use of their weekends to camp. There are thousands of interesting camp bases in Western countries. They can swim, go fishing, attend lectures, and take part in many other activities there. It can help them quest_ for the secrets of nature and teach them how to be self ­reliant(自立的).

    Thank you for your postcard. I'm very glad you are having a good trip now. Ottawa is very beautiful in May. I hope I will have a chance to go there one day.

    Our summer holidays will start next month. I enjoy my summer holidays, although(虽然)it's hot at that time in America. During summer holidays，I can swim in the sea and go fishing. It's so cool. And I am going to our hometown near Chicago with my sister Linda，and my parents agree(同意). Our uncle lives  there，so Linda and I can stay with him.

    We are not going to take a plane. We are going there by train. I am going to fish there. And Linda likes painting. She is going to do some painting there. I'm sure we'll have a good time.

Plans for the holidays

    The summer holiday is coming. Students are going to enjoy it this month.

 Tom is going to his family party."I can't wait to go home and go to the family party. I also plan to go to New York to see some friends. A lot of friends and I are going to dance at my house," he says.

    Tom's friend—Jack is going to spend the holiday with his aunt. "I really want to go to England to meet my family. I want to have a good time with them. But now I can't. I am going to look after my aunt because she is ill," Jack says.

    Mike is Tom's friend too. "I want to spend my summer holiday with Jim. We plan to travel around the world. We think we are going to enjoy ourselves," he says.
