Ted sat next to me when we were in primary school (小学). He had serious problems when he talked with people. One always 1guess what he was saying. Besides, most of my classmates did not like to be with him 2 his hands and shirts were 3 dirty. I tried to let him know the importance of being clean by 4 him several times a day to wash his hands. 5 he just could not understand.
One day, our teacher Miss Li walked up to Ted. Without saying 6, she took Ted to the washroom. Slowly, Miss Li 7 his hands and told him that he should keep himself clean. She did that every day for one 8. Finally, Ted understood.
Miss Li's love has given me a good example to follow when I am doing my 9. I always remember to teach my students 10 showing them the right ways to do things. And most important of all, I always remember to give them more time to learn and to grow up.

It's John's birthday today. He's five years old. He gets many presents from his family and one of them is a nice big drum. "Who gives him that drum?" his father asks. "His grandfather," answers John's mother. John likes his drum very much. He makes a terrible noise with it, but his mother doesn't say anything about it. His father is not at home. He's working in a school. So he doesn't hear the noise. But one of the neighbours doesn't like the noise. So one morning, she takes a knife and goes into John's room. John is making a noise with the drum. She says to him, "Hello, John. Do you know there is something very nice in your drum? Here is a knife and let's find it."
Many people say that they are working too many hours. They don't have enough time to relax or to stay with their family.
Work hours are different from one country to another. In France, people spend about 1,646 hours a year at work. In Japan, however, people work about 2,159 hours a year.
Why do people work so many hours? Some people work extra hours because they want to make more money. However, many companies don't pay overtime. Their workers don't get more pay for more work. Some people think it's their duty to work more hours. Some are afraid of losing their jobs if they don't work more hours.
Many people say that their vacations are too short. In France, people get five weeks of paid vacation a year. In Germany, they get four to six weeks, and in the United States, two weeks. One study shows fewer than half of workers used all their vacation days. In Great Britain, there is a saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull(迟钝的) boy." If that is true, there must be a lot of dull people in the world.
How Will Life in 2050 Be Like?
What picture of the future do you have? Will life in the future be better, worse or the same as it is now? What do you hope about the future? Scientists predict that life will probably be very different in 2050 in all the fields(领域).
First of all, it seems that channels(频道) will have disappeared by 2050. Instead, people will choose a TV programme from a "menu" and a computer will send the programme directly to the television. And we will be able to smell and feel the things that we see on television.
In transportation, cars will have computers to control(控制) the speed and there won't be any accidents. Today, many cars have computers that tell drivers where they are. By 2050, the computer will control the car and drive it to the place where you are going.
In technology, many factories and big companies will use robots instead of people, because they do not ask for pay rises, and they work 24 hours a day. And we will see robots everywhere—in schools, offices, hospitals, shops and homes.
In medicine technology, we will be able to help blind and deaf people see again and hear again. Scientists will be able to make clones(克隆) of people and decide how they look and how they behave.
By about 2020 a new company from India will be opening dollar stores all over the world to sell their products. They will be a huge success, selling a lot of big things for low prices.
At these stores, they will sell a car that is customized(定做) to the customer's needs. So you will buy your car piece by piece. What's the point of buying a top if you don't need one? Why buy sides to your car if you want a good view? If you always drive alone, what's the point of buying four seats? The solution is to buy only what you need; pay a dollar for each wheel, a dollar for the engine, a dollar for the floor, a dollar for a seat, and away you go. When it looks like rain, run back and buy a roof.
When winter comes you can buy the sides and top; or fold up what you have and store it. Reliability(可靠性) won't be a problem because when something breaks down, just throw it away and buy a new one. When you get tired of the color of style, just replace it. While it may feel like you are always dishing out money, by the time you've done, you might only pay $12.00 for the entire car, so let's not complain.
This store will be such a big hit in India.
New rules and behavior standards (行为规范) for middle school students came out (颁布) in March. Middle schools are going to use a new way to decide who the top students are. The best students won't only have high marks. The following are some of the new rules.
Tell the truth. Have you ever cheated(作弊) in an exam? Don't do it again! That's not something honest students should do.
Love animals and other people. Good students love animals and care for other people. April is Bird loving Month in Beijing this year. Is your school doing anything to celebrate it? You should join! In that way, you can learn more about animals and how to protect(保护) them.
Be open to new ideas. Have you ever thought people could live on the moon? Maybe you'll find another earth in space in the future. Everyone's new ideas are important.
Protect yourself. Has a thief ever taken money from one of your classmates? Don't let it happen to you. If you have to go back home late, you should let your parents know.
Use the Internet carefully. The Internet can be very useful for your study. But some things on the Internet aren't for kids, so try to look at the good web pages (网页). You can use the web pages for fun or homework.
