Tony is coming to China now. Look at what he has in his mind.
There is a saying in China, “He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true man.” So the first thing to do in China is to visit the Great Wall. I'll take my lunch with me and have it on the wall. I'm sure I'll have a wonderful day there.

There would be a school party on Friday evening. The girls were talking about what they were going to wear.
“I'm going to wear a black dress, so everybody will notice me,” said Emily. “How about you, Linda?”
“I'm not sure. Maybe jeans (牛仔裤), an old shirt, and a hat. People will notice me more than you!” Linda said.
“But what are the boys going to do at the party?” asked Jane. “Do you remember the last school party, last year? They just stood there, and we girls had to dance by ourselves!”
“I hear that some of the boys learned how to dance this summer. Maybe it'll be better this time,” said Mary.
The party was held on Friday evening. Groups of students arrived. The music began. The girls stood in a line on one side, and the boys on the other side. Mr. Green, their teacher, tried to get them together, but failed. After a while, Tim said, “I don't want to stand here the whole time. The party is only for two hours. It'll be over soon.” He started to dance. All the others watched him. Then David asked Emily if she wanted to dance. Then Jack and Linda. Then, all began to dance. Soon there were more dancers than watchers.

There are popular TV programs about the work of the police on TV. People like them because they are interesting and useful.
There is a TV program called “PoliceFive”. It goes for five minutes once a week. A TV reporter talks about crimes (犯罪) in the city. He asks people for help because the police station needs their help.
During the week the TV reporter shows pictures of lost paintings, lost cars and other lost things. When people see pictures of such things on TV, they may remember something and tell the police about it. With their help the police may catch(抓住) more thieves.
Sometimes the police find a car or something expensive that was lost, and the TV reporter shows them on TV. Then the owner may see them and get them back.
Making new friends can be difficult, especially if you are a child in a new neighborhood. It may seem like everyone else has a friend to sit with or to talk to. Don't worry; if you're a nice person, you can make friends too.
Step 1. Decide what kind of people you want to play with. Choose (选择) wisely, because you'll probably become like them. Pick children that are nice to other people.
Step 2. Smile and say something nice to the person you want to be your friend. If you like a person's shoes or think a girl is good at basketball, just say so. Everyone likes compliments.
Step 3. Join clubs and teams. If you like sports, try out for some. Put yourself in situations where you are around many children that enjoy the same activities as you. It's easier to develop(发展) friendships when you have the same hobbies.
Step 4. Ask questions whenever it's appropriate. People love to talk about themselves. Be careful not to ask too personal questions or ask someone too many questions. But asking one or two questions shows you're interested in him or her.

I was 12 when I came to Maywood School three years ago. Like most schools in the USA, classes here began at 8:00 a.m. However, the headmaster, Mr. Bergman, found there was a problem -- so many students were either missing the first class or arriving late. My Classmates and I often found it hard to keep our eyes open in the mornings, so lessons were no fun for us. Our grades weren't good either.
In the end, Mr. Bergman asked the school doctor for advice. The doctor said that because teenagers' bodies are growing so quickly, they need more sleep than adults (~). But their body clocks make it hard for them to go to bed before 11:00 p.m., so the best time for them to wake up is around 8:00 a.m.
Mr. Bergman decided to do an experiment (实验). He changed (改变) the start time for classes to 9:00 a.m. The school still opened at 8:00 a.m. and teachers used the extra (额外的) hour to prepare lessons.
I didn't think the new timetable (时间表) would make much difference, but I was wrong. I felt much better! Everyone's grades improved. Also, more students had time for a hot breakfast together in the dining hall. We all felt healthier and happier.
After three months, Mr. Bergman asked teachers, students and parents if they wanted to keep the new timetable. Everyone did.

A priest (神父) lived with his small white cat. One day, the cat climbed up a tree and was afraid to come down. The priest called its name and gave it its favorite drink, warm milk, but the cat still didn't come down. So the priest decided to tie a rope (拴一根绳子) between his car and the tree. He thought as he drove, the tree would bend down (弯曲) and he could get the cat. He did so. But he drove too far, and the rope broke.
The tree went "boing!" and the cat at once went through the air. The priest couldn't see it. He felt terrible. He walked around the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen his cat. But nobody had seen it. At last, he said, "God (上帝), I just give this cat to your keeping."
A few days later, he met one of his church members' (教会成员) in a shop. He saw cat food in her shopping bag. This woman disliked cats and everyone knew it, so he asked her in surprise, "Why are you buying cat food?"
She replied, "My little girl always wanted a cat, but I kept refusing. Then a few days ago, she asked again. I told her if God gave her a cat, she could keep it. She went out of the .house and said something to the sky. Then suddenly .a cat flew out of the blue sky and landed in front of her. "
The priest smiled and said, "How lucky your little girl is!" Then he went on shopping.

Kumar and his two friends built a robot and named it Athena. They would go for Battle of the Bots--the city's biggest robot competition, and it would start in two days. The winning team would get $5,000.
"How are we going to beat (打败) the Cougars?" asked Alex. The Cougars was the team that won the last two years' competitions.
Kumar said, "The Cougars always build a big and strong (强壮的) robot. But usually their robot isn't very fast."
"Our robot is fast," Alyssa said.
"Yes!" Kumar said. "Don't worry. I have a plan for how to do it." Kumar told the group his plan and they began to work.
Two days later, the competition began. Kumar said to his friends, "I' m sure the plan will work and Athena will win. Just wait and see."
Athena won all of her first battles (较量). The Cougars' big, strong robot, The Avenger, did well, too. By the end of the day, The Avenger and Athena were the only two robots left in the competition.
Soon the battle between Athena and the Avenger began. The Avenger lunged (猛扑) for Athena, but the small robot was too quick for him. Athena went behind The Avenger and, before the larger robot had time to turn, Athena hit (攻击) him from behind. The Avenger fell" down and couldn't move.
The three friends all jumped up excitedly. "Now it's time for the real question," said Alex“ ”
