Mr Brown lived in a house less than two miles from his office, so he was able to drive home every day for lunch. Every time he drove home at noon, he found many cars were parked outside his house and there was no room for his own car. He had to drive somewhere else to park his car. Then he had to walk back home. This made him very angry.
He had put up a board, which said "No parking" in the garden facing the road, but nobody noticed(注意) it. People seemed to obey(遵守) only a police notice with white letters on a blue board:
Mrs Brown suggested(建议) that he steal(偷) a police notice. He was afraid to do so. She then suggested that he make one just like a police notice. He said he was not the police and couldn't use the word "police". Several days later, Mr Brown made a blue board with white letters:
"Oh!" Mrs Brown said, "You told me you weren't going to use the word 'police', but why do you use it now?" "Really?" he asked. "Look again. "
She started to laugh. "You are really clever."

He said nothing about it but he really began to talk about how to use commas, and then he wrote the following sentence on the blackboard, “Nick says the teacher is a boring fellow. ”
The class laughed and Nick's face turned red. “Now,” said the teacher, “I'll tell you the importance of commas. ” He put two commas in the sentence, and then read, “ Nick, says the teacher, is a boring fellow. ”
The whole class laughed again. Nick felt very surprised at first, then his face became much redder. Finally he couldn't help (情不自禁) laughing with the other students, too.
Some animals sleep during the wintertime because the weather can be very cold and it is difficult for them to find food. They can sleep for a long time. This kind of winter sleep is called “hibernation”.
If an animal moves about a lot, it needs food. Hibernating animals do not need to eat much because they are not moving about. Their hearts(心脏) beat very slowly and they also breathe(呼吸) slowly. They find a place that is sheltered(遮蔽的) from bad weather and where they are out of danger. Their body fat(脂肪) keeps them alive and warm.
Some animals, such as bears, may wake up from their hibernation on warm winter days and then quickly go back to sleep again when they see the snow is still thick on the ground. When the weather becomes warmer in spring, the animals start to wake up and look for food.
Tom is a TV reporter. An amazing thing happened to Tom yesterday evening. He was walking alone on his way home when he saw bright lights in the sky. Then a spacecraft(航天器) showed up. At first he thought it was orange and white, and it was coming closer and closer. Then it stopped a few metres above the ground. He saw two people inside. They had big ears and small eyes, but no hair. Tom thought they were aliens. He had a camera with him then, but he was too scared to take a photo. Then he began to feel weak and fell to the ground. An hour later, he woke up. He found himself lying on the grass in front of his house. He couldn't explain how he got there. Of course he told his friends about this strange experience.
