In China, you can travel to all corners of this big country by bus or train. It's surprising what China has done in the past ten (year) in terms of train travel – it now has the (big) high-speed railway network in world. The high-speed trains are great, and a/lɒŋ/ train journey in China is a great way to see the country.
China is a huge, fascinating country with so much to see. A a student, I love traveling my parents, from big cities, to seaside hot spots, to holy mountains, to national parks, to historical sites and to /smɔ:l/ villages far away. (get) out of your comfortable home here to some unknown places is a good experience as well. And you can eat local food, and (real) reach the heart of the country.
I always love traveling outside Yibin to see our (beauty) country — China.
Florence Nightingale was a nurse who saved many people in the 19th cenury. She was named after the city of Florence in Italy.
Florence was unusual young woman for her time, bemuse she didn't want to go to parties and get married. She wanted to be a nurse and help people. Her family (not)want her to become a nurse because hospitals back then were dirty, horrible places.
the age of thirty-one, Florence went to Germany and learned all about nursing. It was hard work, she loved it.
In 1854, lots of British soldiers went to fight in the Crimean War. Army hospitals were filled with injured people, but there (be)no nurses and many soldiers died. Florence and a team of nurses went to help.
Florence worked 20 hours a day to make the hospital (clean)and safer place. She brought fresh food, she cleaned the beds and she used clean bandages on the wounded soldiers fewer (man) were dying.
At night, Florence talked to the injured soldiers and helped them (write) letters to their families. They called her "the lady with the lamp", she always carried a lamp.
When Florence returned to England, people called her a hero. Queen Victoria wrote her a letter to say thanks, She (give)the honor(荣誉)—-Order of Merit, becoming the first woman to receive it
Many children love animals. And Willow Phelps is one of (they). In fact, this American little girl not only loves animals, but she also has done really a lot for them. And (连词) she did these kind things, she won the2016 ASPCA(美国防止虐待动物协会) Kid of the Year.
Willows (love) for animals started early. When she was about 3 years old, her family took in (冠词)18-year-old cat. Under the care of Willow, the cat lived for another 3 years. After that, many old pets arrived in Willows home. So, Willow began to make plans to help more(animal).
With her mums help, Willow began running, swimming and even sewing(缝制)toys to(raise)money for animals in need of help. In her young life, she has (successful) completed the three projects. Finally, she raised $ 11,000. She also succeeded in (stop) the use of live goldfish as prizes at her school party. And what she did for goldfish was(notice)and rewarded (奖励) by the ASPCA.
I will continue to speak up for animals no matter how hard it is, "said Willow. Willow dreams of becoming an animal doctor(介词)the future. Let's hope this little girl's dream will come true.
This is "Tammela School, a primary school in Finland. The students are having a math class with their robot teacher.
The "teacher" is small, blue machine about 25cm high, Reuters reported. Whenever students have problems, it helps them very (patient) and never gets bored.
"The robot can make students (active) in class than usual. I see Elias as one of the (tool) to get different kinds of practice and activities into the classroom," a teacher told Reuters.
So far the school (introduce) four robot teachers one of whom is a language teacher that can speak 23 languages and dance to music." necessary to encourage kids to come up new ways to make use of technology in school life." the head of the school (add) in the interview.
The robot teachers are used (help) improve learning. This doesn't mean that human teachers will lose their jobs. The robots can teach well, they are not able to keep class in order. The school still needs human teachers.
As we are growing up, we really need advice from adults. Here are three people talking about their experience.
Jasper, 26, actor
You're not alone.
Sometimes when you're a teenager, you feel as if you're all alone and there's you can talk to. Do you know twenty to thirty percent of teenagers in the US have a hard going through the period? They feel lonely and sad. I think life is so much easier if you your troubles with others. I regret that I didn't take the advice when someone gave it to me.
Steve, 27, teacher
Your teachers only want what's best for you.
When I was in school, I never thought I'd become a teacher. I acted badly in class, and I feel about that now. I love my job and I know how challenging it is, so I hope kids can show their teachers more respect (尊敬). I hope kids can that teachers push them to do their best and not just to give them a hard time.
Anna, 29, doctor
Money doesn't grow on trees.
When I was a teenager, I never learned to save money. I just spent it! My parents gave me everything I wanted, but I realize now they spent little themselves. Now I wish I knew more about planning my money, and I am not the only one! It seems that today's teenagers know about money planning even less me years ago. I do wish they could learn about it earlier.

A Spring Morning
This spring morning in bed I'm lying,
Not to awake till the birds are crying.
After one night of wind and showers,
How many are the fallen flowers!
(Translated by Xu Yuanchong)
This poem (write) by Meng Haoran (689-740), who lived during the Tang Dynasty. It might be one of the (famous) Poems about spring in China. People like to read it they wake up on a spring morning.
Meng didn't directly say how much he loved spring. Instead, he wrote about the details(细节) of the season:the birds, wind, rain showers and fallen flowers. His descriptions(描述)of these things showed (we) the joy he felt during springtime.
Meng chose to write about the sounds of spring. These sounds allow readers (picture) spring using their own imagination.

There were many people on a bus. An old man (look) here and there. He wanted to find empty seat. Then he saw one and went to it. A small bag was on the seat. And a young man was beside it.
"Is this seat empty?" asked the old man.
"No, it's an old woman. She went to buy some bananas.” said the young man.
"Well, let me sit here, please. I'll leave here when she (come) back, "replied the old man.
After a few minutes, the bus started. "The old woman (not come), but her bag is here. Let me give her the bag. "Then the old man threw the bag out of the bus window.
The young man jumped up and shouted, "Don't throw! It's my bag!"
I believe there are many things that we can do to make life in our town a lot better for teenagers.
First of all, I think more bike lanes should (build). A lot of teenagers in my town bike everywhere, it's very dangerous because there is a lot of traffic. If there are more bike lanes in the future, it will be much (safe) for us.
(two), I believe that we need more places for teenagers to go to. my opinion, teenagers won't cause problems in the street if there are more places for us to go to. So we need more (club) and other places where we can meet.
Thirdly, teenagers here need more sports facilities. There (be) places to play ball games so far like tennis and basketball, but what about other sports, skating and rollerblading?
Finally, I'm sure we'll make the town better we don't drop litter. If we all do something (help) now, our town will be much better for everyone in the future.
Have you ever heard of friendships among animals? At a zoo in Germany, an unusual friendship developed a cat and a bear.
No one is quite sure how the friendship first began. One day, some (worker) in the zoo noticed a black cat was in the bears cage(笼子), and the two animals were playing together peacefully. They were surprised well the small cat seemed to get along with the large bear. The bear keeper allowed the cat to stay with the bear, And later the pair and their unusual friendship (become)a hot topic at the zoo.
After several years, a new cage (build) for the bear. However, the cat was still in the same cage, so it walked around (angry) and cried to be with the bear. The bear keeper finally took pity on the cat let it stay with the bear. The cat and the bear got (close) than before. They often sat together and shared meals in sun.
Sometimes it may be natural for animals (have) their own ideas about who would make a good friend. These may surprise humans, who usually expect animals to form relationships with others of the same species.
Joseph is a teacher in New York. He gives lessons to (he) students about American history. But he was born Kenya, an African country where the children lead a very different life. For example, a ten-year-old boy may spend (much)time in taking care of cows than studying at school. The children also learn many (skill) like how to live in the wild.
Unlike many other children, Joseph went to school. And (lucky), when he was 15, he came (study) in America and then became a teacher. Joseph has written book called Facing the Lion. In the book, he talks about his childhood. He thinks is very important for American children to learn about the cultural differences between their country the others. He also thinks children should learn to be strong and full of hope. Now Joseph (do)a project, hoping that it will help children face their own" lions".

English
World language
Once people a language that everybody in the world could understand. Now, for the time in human history, perhaps there is one -- English It is the official language in more than 50 countries and 250-300 million people it as a second language. Some say that half the world will be speaking it in the year 2050.
Difficult to master?
English is not the language to learn -- most of its common verbs are irregular and it has a large vocabulary -- at least 200, 000 words are in common use.
User-friendly
But some things make easy. For example, nouns don't have gender ( 性别) and the usages of verbs are simpler than other languages. There is one form to speak to someone directly -- "you". Adjectives don't agree nouns, and many nouns are often also verbs.
English Is Everywhere
Some other languages may have more speakers, like Chinese. But English in many different areas. It is the language of transport: most airline pilots and air-traffic controllers use it. At English is the international language of communication.
The Future of English
What is the future of English as a global language? Will language ever replace it? Many think not -- it is already too popular.

One day, a student asked his teacher, "what is greed?" The teacher didn't answer his question , but asked the student to walk through the chocolate factory next to their school and pick out the biggest chocolate bar(条、块) he could find. But there was a : as he passed through the factory, he could not turn back.
The student went to the chocolate factory. As he walked, he saw a large chocolate bar. He liked it, but thought he might be able to find an even bigger one if he kept going. He kept walking and saw chocolate bar. This one was a little bigger. But , he thought he could find an even bigger one if he kept going. As he neared the end of the factory, he saw fewer chocolate bars, and of them were as large as the earlier ones. He started to regret his decision to keep going. Finally, he . He went back to his teacher empty-handed and explained what had happened.
The teacher told him, "You liked the chocolate bar, but you kept looking for a bigger one. And later, you realized that you had given up the best chocolate bar because you thought you could do better. That is called greed."

Paul: Hey, Jenny, the subject for my school project is "Small invention that changed the world". Can you help me think of an invention?
Jenny: With ! Let me think ... hmm ... I know! The zipper!
Paul: The zipper? Is it such a great invention?
Jenny: Think about how often it's used in our lives. You can see zippers on dresses, trousers, shoes, bags ... almost everywhere! I saw a website last week. The of different inventions were listed there. For example, it mentioned that the zipper was by Whitcomb Judson in 1893. But at that time, it wasn't used widely.
Paul: So when did it become popular?
Jenny: Around 1917.

A Cloud of Hope and Danger
In 2050, a small cloud floats through the air in a hospital operating room(手术室). In the room a patient, suffering from cancer, lies on a table. The cloud surrounds (包围) the patient, her body and filling her lungs (肺). The cloud is not smoke or steam. It is made of millions of microscopic robots called nano-robots(纳米机器人). These tiny robots move from cell(细胞) to cell in the body, destroying the cancer cells.
Fighting cancer with nano-robots is only an idea today, scientists say that it would be possible in the future. Using nano-robots for good purposes such as fighting disease or repairing the environment may be the to many of today's problems.
However, nano-robots could be a risk as well. Since nano-robots are so tiny, they will have to work in large teams of many thousands to 'many millions. For this reason, nano robots will have to be programmed to build . Scientists will not have the ability to build millions of nano-robots one by one.
This to reproduce(复制)is making some scientists worried. What if something goes wrong in the programming? Quite a lot of crazy nan-orobots would be far than any disease. Some people think that if they get out of control, nan-orobots could destroy the Earth.
What should be done? Should we continuenan-orobots or should we search for other methods? This is one of the many difficult that we have to make in the future.
