Most adults once studied at school, had classes and did their homework every day. The same thing is going on at school now.1 it seems that doing weekend homework is a 2 for the modern students.
All the students3 that weekend homework should be abolished (取消).It is 4 for them to study at school five days a week. They have a lot of interests. With homework to do on Saturday and Sunday, when can they have time to 5 their parents do the housework, go and see a football or basketball game or a good 6, join in family recreation (娱乐), or just have a rest at home? Because of these other activities, the homework can't be finished 7 Sunday evening. So their weekend homework is usually done in such a hurry that on Monday teachers are 8 and often threaten to fail whole class of students because many of the students know little about the 9.If there were no weekend homework to do, they would be 10 to go to school on Monday after two days' good rest and to learn what the teachers teach.
More and more advertisements appear on the Web. You have to be careful not to be fooled or tricked(欺骗) by the advertisements on the Internet. Something is said to be a bargain, but it isn't always cheap. And some so-called new things just have a new outside.
However, shopping online is a kind of fashionable thing today. I love to buy things for everyday use, so I often get lots of information about them on websites online. For example, if I want an MP4, I can choose my favorite one, and look for what the users like or don't like about it, then decide whether to buy or not. And at the same time, you don't have to go to a shop or walk around a crowded shopping area, so you don't have to waste much time. The Internet is really useful for shopping, but be careful not to spend too much.
In China, many people are leaving the countryside to find jobs in the cities, because the countryside is much poorer than the city, and often there isn't much work there. Services such as hospital and transport (交通)are usually much better in the city than in the countryside. They hope that their lives will improve when they move to the city.
But in the big cities of Europe like London or Pads, people are moving out of the city. These rich families want to live a quieter life. They are tired of the noise and the dirt (尘土) of the city, and they are tired of the crowded streets, crowded trains and buses. They don't want to live in the cities any more. They want a house with a garden in the countryside, and breathe the fresh air there.
So they move out of the cities. Some don't go very far, just a little way out of the city, to the towns near the cities, other people move to the real countryside with sheep, cows and green fields. There, they start new lives and try to make new friends.
Not all those who move from the city to the countryside are happy. After two or three years, many people who have done this feel that it was a big mistake. They don't make so much money and there isn't much work to do. People in the countryside are very different and aren't always very friendly.
As a result, quite a lot of people who have moved to the countryside move back to the city. "It's wonderful to see crowds in the streets and cinema lights," they say.
Every day, in homes all over the world, people leave lights on when no one is in the room. Air conditioners are usually set at too low temperatures in summer. A lot of water is wasted by using too much. We'll have less and less gas to use because more people buy cars. People, especially children, watch TV for too many hours. |
A. Try our best to make friends with the countries in the Middle East and ask them to give us more gas in the future. B. We should walk to work, ride a bike to school, and take a bus home more often instead of driving cars. C. Encourage people to do more outdoor activities in their free time. Get children to learn more from reading books. D. Plants more trees and grass around our houses. Ask people not to cut down the trees. Use your handkerchief instead of using paper napkins. E. In rooms where you have an air conditioner, you can save electricity by cleaning the filter (滤波器). A filter uses 30% more energy when it is dirty. Also, set the air conditioner at 26 degrees. F. Always keep the saying in mind "Turn off lights before leaving." G. Take a shower instead of a bath, for a bath uses twice as much as water. Don't flush (冲洗) the toilet unnecessarily. |
Nowadays bike-sharing has been very popular in China. Mobike (摩拜单车) is of the market leaders in the bike-sharing business.

If you lose 12 times, will you just give up? Dale Carnegie, a pioneer in public speaking and self-development, kept trying. And he became famous by showing people how to be successful.
Carnegie was born in 1888 in the central United States. As a son of a farmer, the boy had to get up at 4 a.m. every day to milk the cows. When Carnegie first entered college, he felt hopeless because of his clothes and ordinary (普通的) looks. His mother encouraged him, "Why not try to be better in other things instead of just dress and good looks?"
Carnegie tried to be more active in college. He joined the debate (辩论) team. But one after another, he lost 12 times. The young man was so disappointed in himself that he even thought of ending his own life for so many failures.
But soon Carnegie was seen practicing public speaking on the riverside. His hard work brought good results at last. In 1906, Carnegie won a famous speech match and became widely famous.
The young man made his own words come true: "Believe that you will succeed, and you will." In order to share his success, Carnegie started schools and wrote books. More than 50 million copies of his books have been printed in 38 languages. They are still helping people on the road to success.

Good morning, everyone! I think everyone will agree with the saying that "Failure is the mother of success."
Don't be afraid of failures. If you learn how to deal with failures, you will surely taste success in the end.
