    One day an American went to a small town in South America for his holidays. Few people went there because it was far away from the cities. He fell ill（生病） and wanted very much to see a doctor.

    The American went to find out how he could find a fine doctor there. A man told him, "That's very easy. If there is a patient（病人） that a doctor can't cure（治愈）, the doctor has to put a balloon over his clinic（诊所）. "

    The American thought, "The fewer balloons are, the finer the doctor is." He began to look for the finest doctor along the street. First he found a clinic. There were 20 balloons. After a few minutes he found another one-30 balloons. He thought neither doctor was fine.

    At last he found the third clinic. Only 5 balloons were there. He was very happy and went in.

    "Wait a minute," said the doctor. "I'm too busy, you know. This clinic opened only yesterday." The American was very much surprised（感到吃惊的） and said to himself, "Where can I find the finest doctor?"

    It was in August 1999 that I decided to come to China to work as a language teacher.

    I taught in Zhongshan City. Guangdong, for six months before moving to Ningbo. I came to Wanli University in 2000, and I taught there for five years. My time in Ningbo is great. I've met many wonderful Chinese teachers.

    I came to China with the idea of helping Chinese friends learn English better, and I have achieved this many times. I've traveled to many places in China, and I find that Ningbo is my favorite place.

    When I first came to Ningbo in 2000, it wasn't as clean as it is now. However, I found that this is a great city to live in. When I arrived, there was one McDonalds, and three KFC's. But we didn't get a Starbucks until 2002.

    I've really enjoyed spending my time here, especially now that I have found my beautiful wife, and we will be having our first child in Ningbo. Maybe she or he will learn Ningbo dialect（方言）, to talk with the grandparents.

    While staying in Ningbo, I have found that many people can understand English, but are very shy to speak out. I'm telling you now, it is only a language, and don't be afraid to talk, just remember, "Nobody is perfect. "

    Some say that madness and genius（天才）often come hand in hand. This is （特别）true of Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh（梵高）.

    Van Gogh is famous for his （令人惊讶的）use of color and shape. （出生）in 1853, he was painting at a time when art was changing and his （决定）were changing. A long time ago, artists made a living by making their paintings look like real photos. But later on, art became more about the artists' own ideas.
