I once had little passion(激情) in my life. But what happened the other day changed my mind. It was then that I learned how 1 it is to have a passion in life.
That day I went home in Mom's car. When Mom 2 at a red light, someone on the side of the road caught my eye. It was a man dressed 3 old clothes. He was homeless. That didn't interest me, because I had seen 4 like him before. Those people usually looked unhappy and hopeless.
But this man was 5 in some way. He was not sitting down 6 but dancing happily to the music with a 7 in his hand. The radio seemed to be the most important thing for him.
"Mom, why does that man have a radio 8 he's homeless?" I asked.
"He 9 it," she answered.
"10 why doesn't he use the money to buy food or clothes? He paid for something that he didn't need."
"Well, Sarah, sometimes food and clothes aren't the most important."
That man must care more about 11 than food or clothes. I soon realized that 12 is the key to life.
Since then I am always 13 what is truly important in life. A home, a meal, clothes—these things are 14 part of the life. What we often forget is that we all need a joy, a light in a 15 day. We all need a passion which gives a person the happiness to keep going.

Dear Miss Hooper,
I'm writing to thank you for your help this year. There were lots of subjects(主题)in class, but you made sure that I could understand every one.To tell the truth(事实),you're the best teacher I've met.You explain(解释)things so clearly and are also so kind.I really enjoyed every minute of your class.
There were so many best parts this year.Whatever the subject.you made it fun and interesting to everyone. All of your students found learning new things so easy because of you.I really believe you have a great teaching skill(技能).You should be very proud of the way that you help children learn. It is because of you that I've decided to become a teacher when I grow up.
I have mixed feelings about school next year.I'm sad that you won't be my teacher any more. However,I'm happy that other children will get to share your knowledge(学问).I'm sure that they'll thank you for your good work.
I didn't enjoy school much before this year.I was new to the school this year.At my old school,I found learning quite difficult. The last nine months have changed all of that.I'm now confident and looking forward to the next school year.
Thank you once again for all of your help. You are really a great teacher and you've helped me greatly.I hope that we can share the same classroom again one day.
Yours,
Jacob Maclean

A writer can write many songs.Sometimes a writer's favourite song isn't his most successful one."Walkin' in the Sun"is a good example. It's not my most successful song but it is very meaningful to me.
My father was blind(失明的)since he was about 6 years old.He was an insurance broker(保险经纪人).He did most of his work at home in Brooklyn,New York. Most of his sales were done on me phone. And he was really good at it.Sometimes, however, he had to go to the offices in Manhattan.
One day, when I was about 13,I went to the offices in Manhattan with him.We were on the way to the underground station and I remember it was the end of the day.It was a little cold.My dad asked if the sun was out on the other side of me street.I said,"Yes."He said,"Let's walk on that side of the street."
Many years later, when I was probably 30,I was writing songs for myself. I had an office at A&M Record's and they wanted me to record(录制)some of my songs.I thought about that day and"Walkin' in the sun".It's very simple(简单的).It says that when things are very negative , you need to know when they get better. At the end of the song,it says:Even a blind man can tell when he's walkin' in the sun.
I was the first person to record it but I'm very moved(感动的)because it's also been sung by many famous singers.I think people like it because they can tell it comes from a place of sincerity(真诚).

How to be the world's best guest?
Do you want to be a popular guest who gets invited back?Read our five top tips(建议)for being a good guest.
⑴If you are in a formal(正式的)situation, dress smartly: a suit and a tie for men, a long dress for women.
⑵If you are going to stay in someone's house, don't arrive empty-handed. Bring a small present if you are staying for a short time, a bigger one for longer periods. Expensive chocolate works in most situations.
⑶To shake hands or to kiss? Wait to see what your host does.
⑷Always accept it when offered, whether it looks terrible or delicious. Try to cat all of it and say it tastes good. Most people are proud of their cooking even if they shouldn't be. Don't hurt their feelings.
⑸The most important tip for being a good guest is to know when to say goodbye. The secret is to leave while the host is still enjoying your company and wants you to stay longer.
