My mother only had one eye. And because of this, I never wished her to show up in my 1 , being afraid that my classmates would find out I had an ugly mother.
One day during elementary school, I was terribly ill. My mother came. "Your mom only has one eye?!" asked some of my classmates. I was so 2 . I wished my mother would just disappear from this world. "If you make me teased(嘲笑),why don't you just die?" I shouted at her, taking no notice of the sad look on her face. My mother just handed me some 3and left without saying 4 . At that time, I felt 5 to say what I always wanted to say, and I didn't think I had hurt her feelings very much. That night I saw my mom 6 in her room, so quietly, as if she was afraid that she might 7 me. Even so, I hated her tears from one eye. I made a 8 : I must study hard and leave my mother. Years later my dream came true. I was quite successful and lived 9 . I never thought of going back to see my "ugly" mother 10 one day I got a letter, which said, "My son... I'm sorry I only have one eye. When you were little, you got into a(n) 11 and lost your eye. As a mom, I couldn't 12 watching you live with only one eye. 13 I gave you mine. I was never 14 with you and I never regretted(后悔) what I did because I 15 you…" I cried out aloud. Only then did I realize how beautiful my mother was!

Long long time ago, the Jade Emperor, organized an animal race. He told all the animals that the first 12 animals to win could get a place in the Chinese Zodiac (十二生肖), and have a year named after them.
The cat and the mouse both asked the ox to wake them up early on the day of the race. That day, the ox tried to wake them up, but without success. So the kind ox carried them on his back and started running when the race began. The mouse woke up just when the ox was going to across the last river. He knew that he could never beat the cat. So he pushed the cat off the ox's back. When the ox reached the other side of the river, the mouse jumped off and ran to the finishing line, just before the ox.
So the 12-year cycle(循环) begins with the mouse. The ox comes after him. The tiger follows the ox. The rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig come after them. The cat didn't get a place in the Zodiac. That's why the cat hates the mouse and always wants to kill it.
A young man was taking a walk with a professor. As they went along, they saw a pair of old shoes lying in the path. They thought it belonged to a poor man who worked in a field nearby.
The student turned to the professor, saying, "Let us play the man a trick: we will take away his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those trees, and wait to see what will happen when he cannot find them. That must be very interesting."
"My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never play jokes on others because of their being poor. Put a coin into each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch how the discovery changes him."
The student did so, and they both hid themselves behind the bushes close by. The poor man soon finished his work, and came back. While putting on his coat, he put his foot into one of his shoes. Feeling something hard, he bent down to see what it was and found the coin. Surprise was seen on his face. And he looked it again and again and put the money into his pocket. When he put on the other shoe, he was surprised again to find the other coin. He then looked up to the sky and said aloud some thanksgiving words to the person who gave him the coins.
The student stood there deeply moved, and his eyes were filled with tears. "You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget. I feel now the truth of these words, which I never understand before, "A small act of kindness brings great joy," he said.
The government in China plans to end its one-child policy(政策) and let families have two children instead.
The plan was given on Thursday after political meetings in Beijing. There are a number of reasons for the change in policy. The change is meant to balance population development, stop a falling birth rate and strengthen the country's labor(劳动力) force.
China, with the largest population in the world, started the one-child policy in 1980. But the government allowed only a small number of couples to have two children. For example, some families in the countryside could have two children, if the first-born child is a girl.
In 2013, the Chinese government gave other couples a chance to have two children if one of them was an only child.
Jiang Quanbao, a teacher and population expert, explained how Chinese families react(反应) to the newest policy. "Too many young people in the cities are no longer interested in having a second child," he said. "People in the countryside are more interested. But some of them are already allowed to have two children."
At the end of 2014, China had 1. 37 billion people. A total of 800 million of them have jobs. But the labor market population will drop in 35 years. That is to say, the country will be in great need of labor by the year 2050. With the two-child policy, an increase in births can solve this problem.
Boys and girls, what do you think of the two-child policy? Do you want to have a new-born brother or a sister?

A life coach is somebody who helps you reach all kinds of personal and professional goals (目标) . Each of us has the ability to be our own life coach. Here are some tips for you:
①♦ Ask yourself the following questions: How do you deal with disagreements? When was the last time you showed your family members that you care for them? Your relationships with friends, family members and teachers show a lot about the kind of person you are.
②♦ Now, imagine that one of your good friends told you that he or she was not strong enough to go back to school. We often give better advice than we are willing to take ourselves. Remember that even the most successful people were probably told that what they wanted to do was impossible, but they followed their dreams and succeed.
③♦ If you want to reach your goals, you will have to spend more time developing the talents you already have, and uncovering any hidden talents that you haven't discovered yet. So you can take classes in subjects that you are interested in, even if you have no experience.
④♦ Take some time to be thankful for the things you have. Remember positive memories. Think of the best day(s) you have had in the past month or year. Remember special parties, vacations and holidays. Appreciate the wonderful people you have in your life.
