    Shadow is my pet dog. He is small and black. But that's not all. My dog has something 1 He has white socks. Ha! Ha! Of course they are not real ones, they are his white feet. We gave him the name of Shadow 2 he is black as a shadow(影子).

    When shadow got bigger, my mom started to call him 3. I'm not sure if Shadow likes it, but he moves his head when Mom says "Trouble".

    4, my dog doesn't give me any trouble(麻烦)at all. When I go outside, he usually follows 5. He usually sits next to me quietly when I watch TV. I don't 6 why Mom calls him Trouble.

    One day, I said, "Mom, I'll go to walk Shadow." "7,"said my mom, "it is my turn to walk Trouble." Look! Mom really 8 Shadow, but she still calls him Trouble.

    Another day, my mom wanted to go outside to drink her 9. She looked at Shadow and said, "Come on, Trouble, let's go outside for tea." Shadow moved his head and 10 her outside. Look! Shadow is not any trouble at all.

    There are robots all around us. They are very helpful. Some do very difficult work like flying a plane or  subway trains. And some do simple work. People put the program into the robots to tell them what to .Robots are  humans in two ways; they work and they have feedback(反馈). They are very important in . They can do a lot of work that people can't do.

    In  daily life, robots are , too. People used to hope that robots could help them with their housework. It has now become . we think robots must look like a real person,   in fact, most of the time, they're just look like machines (机器).

    In the future, robots will be smarter. It's possible that we will have robot judges(法官)and robots will help people to do  things.

    Friends are very important in our everyday life. Everyone needs friends. We all like to feel close to someone. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh and do things with. Certainly, sometimes we need to be alone(独自). We don't always want people around. But we would feel lonely (孤独的)if we never had a friend.

    No two people are just the same. Friends sometimes don't get on well. That doesn't mean that they no longer like each other. Most of the time they will make it up and become friends again.

    Sometimes friends move away. Then we feel very sad. We miss them very much but we can call them or write to them. We can also make new friends. It is encouraging(鼓励) to find out how much we like new people when we get to know them.

    There's more good news for people who have friends. They live longer than people who don't. Why? Friends can make us feel happy. Being happy helps you stay well. If someone cares about you, you will take better care of yourself.

    What do you call a school with no tests, no grades, no classes, and no teachers? Students of the Met School and their parents think it to be the best school in the world.

    The school is in Rhode Island, USA. Dennis Littky opened it in 1996. He was fired(解雇) from two other schools, because many parents of the school students were happy with his unusual ideas. The school takes poor kids who are failing(失败) at schools. Nearly(几乎) everybody has already given up (放弃)these students and their parents want to try anything. The Met School gives Littky a great place to try out his new ideas.

    "The word that most kids use when they talk about high school is ‘boring'," says Littky. "But no one would say the Met was boring." Advisors(指导老师) (not teachers) work with small groups of students for four years. Students spend almost half of their school time learning real-life skills(技能), such as working for business(生意), spending time with government(政府) people, and helping teach younger children. Instead of(代替) tests, the students give shows about their work outside school.

    In fact, students work harder here than in other schools. All the students from the Met graduate and can choose to go to a good university (大学). Now, Bill Gates is starting schools like this one around the USA.

    Think about this question: what would it be like if there was no other way to get around and we could only use our feet?  Also, we would spend a lot of time on the way before we got somewhere. So we really need to thank all those modes of transportation (交通方式(.

     The earliest boats were canoes(独木舟). Later there were sailing boats(帆船), but they could only be used in one direction.  

In the 19^th century, some modes of transportation that we know today came out, such as the bike, the train and the subway.  As it got easier to travel, people wanted to get to places faster. In the early 20^th century, the first plane in the world came out. By the 1970s, many families in the UK had a car.

     They all make our traveling easier and faster and help us see this world better.
