God had a horse. The horse was beautiful, but he thought he wasn't handsome (英俊) enough. And he was always (抱怨) about this.
One day, the horse talked (关于) his wish with God. He said," How I wish you could make me more beautiful!"
God said," I don't (知道) how to make you more beautiful, Tell me how you want me to (改变) you."
The horse said, "If you make my neck a little longer, my upper body will be more beautiful. And if you make my legs much thinner, then my lower body will look more (美丽的).
God agreed and he turned the horse into a camel by (魔法). The horse felt sad and started (哭),"Oh, no. I don't want to be a camel! I hate being a camel!"
God said, "This is (确实) what you asked for. You have become a camel. Never try to ask for more. (如果) you are greedy(贪婪的),you will want more and more. But you will never know what the (结果) will be." The horse learned a lesson and he was very regretful.
Many students get a driver's permit at 15. In California, they are then allowed to drive for 50 hours under supervision. “Under supervision” means that a friend or relative who already has a license has to ride with them. But what happens when teenagers (persons between 13 and 19 years old) start driving on their own? Many are careful drivers and never have a problem. But many others are not, and they create(造成) problems on the road. Fifteen-year-olds are too young to drive, and sixteen-year-olds are too immature(不成熟的) to start driving alone. In the United States, more teenagers are drilled in driving accidents than in any other way. While fewer than 7% of all drivers are teenagers, teenagers are involved(占;包括) in 14% of the terrible car accidents in the country. Sixteen-year-olds are involved in over 43 crashes in every million kilometers they drive. But seventeen-year-olds cause only about 30 accidents in a million kilometers of driving. One year makes a difference. So the age limit(限制) should be increased.
A teenage girl couldn't stand her parents' family rules, so she left home.
She wanted to be1 but she had poor education and several years later she had to ask for food on the street for a living. Now her father has died. Her mother is an old woman. But she is still 2 her daughter. She has been to every corner of the city. Everywhere she goes, she3 a big photo of herself on the wall. At the lower part of the photo she writes, “I still love you…,4 home!”
One day, the daughter saw one of the photos. The face was familiar. “Is that my mother?” She moved closer and read the 5: I still love you… She cried. When she got home, it was early morning. She6 the door. The door opened itself. She rushed to her mother's7. Her mother was sleeping. She woke her mother up, “It's me! Your 8is back home!” The mother and daughter held each other, full of 9tears (眼泪). The daughter asked, “Why is the door not locked? A thief could get in.” The mother answered 10, “The door has never been locked since you left.”
The door of parents' love for their children will never be closed.
