In England, people always take an umbrella(雨伞) or a raincoat when they go out. Why?1the weather in England often changes quickly. In the morning, it's sunny, but2it may rain. After some time, it gets3again. So it's not a bad thing to take an umbrella when you go out.
In England,4can be windy and rainy. Trees5green and flowers come out. Everything begins to grow. Summer is6and it rains a lot. It is the best time7to beaches and other interesting places. Autumn is a beautiful season. It's yellow in the woods(树林), fields(田野) and parks. Winter comes after autumn. It8snows. Sometimes it snows hard. January and February have the lowest temperature in a year.
What will the weather be like? Some people say they can know what the weather will be like from birds. When they see birds fly high out to the sea, they know it is a nice day, because birds don't like to fly out when it will rain. When the weather will be bad, the birds come back to the beach. A big wind may come with a rain. Birds do not like to fly in a big wind. They may sit in a tree when rain is coming.
Other animals can also tell the weather. It's a cloudy day. The rain is coming. Chickens aren't quiet, and they are running here and there. Frogs(青蛙) are making big noise in the pool. If it is a nice day, the frogs will come out of the water.
The seasons in Australia are not like ours. When it is winter in China, it is summer there. Australia is a southern country; it is in the south of the world. June, July and August are the winter months; September, October and November are spring; the summer is in January, February and December; and March, April and May are the autumn months. The north of the country is hotter than the south.
A very large part of this country has no rain at all. The east coast has rain all year, and there are no dry months there. The southeast winds blow(吹) here all the year round. They bring rain from the sea. There is not much rain on the west side. The southeastern part of Australia has summer rain from the southeast winds. They only blow here in summer.
The southwestern part of Australia has winter rain. The west winds blow over the southwest in winter only. In summer, the southwest of the country has no rain. In the north of Australia, there is no rain in winter. The rain comes in summer. The northwest winds bring it.
As summer comes near, many children are really happy to forget about school for a few months. The summer vacation is the best time for students. They can go outdoors and have fun. They can go to big cities to go sightseeing, or go to the countryside to enjoy the beauty of nature. However, studies have found that children forget between one and three months' worth of school learning during the summer months. Spelling and math abilities are seriously influenced because of the long vacation, while reading is not really influenced by the time off. The most probable reason for this is that most children usually read at least outside of the classroom, whether newspapers, magazines, books, or video game guides. However, their math and spelling skills only get exercised in the school setting.
The first summer vacation appeared because the farm children have time off to help work in the fields in the high growing season, but this reason is no longer valid since fewer kids actually work on farms today. Some cities in the United States, such as Los Angeles, have moved to a year-round school calendar, which will bring less influence in their studies. Most cities still use the normal nine and a half-month calendars. To improve skills and to have a good level of preparation, experts suggested trips to museums, summer camps, and visits to libraries to keep kids active and interested the whole summer.
There are other educational systems that provide vacations while still keeping students' skills in a high level. For example, in Japan students attend classes for seven weeks continuously, followed by two weeks of vacation. This continues to go through all the year. In Italy, students attend classes six days per week, but finish at 1:30 p. m. each day, so that school does not manage their life the way that it does in America.
Educational experts fear that the three-month summer vacation stops the continuity of learning. Just as students get used to new ways in reading, writing, or critical thinking skills, then the summer vacation comes, they shut down for a long period. When they go back to school after the vacation, they take up to two months to return to their previous level of understanding. And so the debate continues: whether to continue the present vacations or to seek changes.

I'm tired of winter. I'm tired of snow. I'm tired of cold weather, and I'm sick and tired of winter coats and boots! Just think! In a few more weeks it won't be winter any more. It'll be warm. It won't snow any more. It'll be sunny. I won't have to stay indoors any more. I'll go outside and play with my friends. We'll ride our bicycles and play baseball again.
In a few more weeks our neighbourhood won't look sad and grey any more. The flowers will bloom, and the trees will become green again. My family will spend more time outdoors. My father will work in the yard. He'll cut the grass and paint the fence. My mother will work in the yard, too. She'll buy new flowers and plant them in the garden. On weekends we won't just sit in the living room and watch TV. We'll go for walks in the park, and we'll have picnics on Sunday afternoons. I can't wait for spring to come! Hurry, spring!
