    A

How do I like to travel?

Many people like to travel by plane, but I don't like it because an airport is usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for hours for the plane to take off and it is often late. You can't open the windows. You can't choose the food. Going by plane is fast, but it takes hours to get out of the airport and go into the city.

I like travelling by train. I think trains are safe. Railway stations are usually in cities. When you are late for a train, you can catch another one. You can walk around on the train and open the windows. You can see many interesting things on your way. I know it takes a little more time.

I also like travelling by car. You can start your journey whenever you want to, and you don't need to get to a railway station or a bus stop. You can also carry many things with you in a car. But sometimes there are too many cars on the road.

A . the airport is usually far from the city B . it is not as fast as by train C . I don't like the food on the plane D . it's not safe

A . It is safe. B . It takes a little more time. C . You can open the windows. D . You can walk around on the train.

    C

New York City is a very large city with 8 million people. How do so many people move on their way to work and school?

In New York you can travel around the city by subway, bus, taxi and car. The subway train runs on the railway lines under the city. It crosses the city at different points and goes to all parts of the city. Travelling by subway is the fastest way to get around the city.

The second way to travel around the city is by bus. It is a slower way to travel. This is because the bus moves on the road on which traffic is often heavy.

You can also travel around the city by taxi. This is very expensive, but the taxi will take you to every place you wish to go to. If traffic is heavy, the taxi will be slow. During the mornings and afternoons, there is the "rush hour". This is the time when the traffic is very heavy with people going to and from work.

The last way to get around New York is using your own car. It is inconvenient(不方便的) since you will perhaps be driving in the "rush hour". If there is an accident on the road, you will have to wait for a long time.

The best time to travel around the city is from 9 a. m.to 4 p. m. This is the time after the morning rush hour and before the afternoon rush hour. Traffic will be less crowded during this time since most people are already at school or at work.

    1. (1) How many ways of travelling around the city are mentioned (提及) in the passage?
      A . Two. B . Three. C . Four. D . Five.
    2. (2) The fastest way to travel in New York is ________.
      A . by bus B . by subway C . by taxi D . by car
    3. (3) The expensive way to travel in New York is by ________.
      A . subway B . taxi C . bus D . car
    4. (4) The phrase "rush hour" in the fourth paragraph means ________ in Chinese.
      A . 比赛中的冲刺时刻 B . 一小时内所跑的路程 C . (上下班)交通高峰时刻 D . 匆匆忙忙的一小时
    5. (5) If you travel around New York in your own car, which of the following is the best time?
      A . From 8 a. m.to 10 a. m. B . From 3 p. m. to 10 a. m. C . From 10 a. m.to 5 p. m. D . From 10 a. m.to 3 p. m.

We must do more for Car Free Day as a Beijing driver said, "We may not change the weather, but we can choose not to drive."
