When your dream is to become a footballer and play for Barcelona team, nothing should get in your way--even if you have no feet.

An 11- year-old schoolboy Gabriel Muniz, who was born without feet, will fly from his home in Brazil to take part in the Spanish club's summer training camp. Although he is disabled, Muniz is one of the top players at the school and captain of his gym class. He can run, pass and strike the ball as well as any of his able-bodied teammates. He spends all his spare time on the foot ball pitch.

His best friend Lucas Santos spoke about his abilities on a video for The Sun, "He is skillful, he goes after it, he is fearless and he knows how to organize plays. He also makes good passes. "

Mum Sandra was thrilled that her son would achieve his dreams. She said, "He started walking before he was one. We would go after him, expecting him not to keep falling, but he never fell. " Muniz's gym teacher added, "He is challenging the social standard. When he arrived there, no one believed in him. "But he showed to everyone that he could play as well as any other boy. So he was invited to go to Spain to show his talent.

The Spanish La Liga soccer club has offered to fly Muniz to Spain in September, where he'll be able to show off his fancy "footwork" and meet his idol, Barca soccer player Lionel Messi.

Muniz wears a prosthetic ankle and foot to help him get around in rainy weather. He knows that his disability means he'll never be able to play for a professional football team and so Muniz, is hoping that football will one day become a Paralympics sport.

For those who haven't heard of it, the Apple watch is the latest invention from the creators of the iPhone and Apple Mac. As the name suggests, this creation is a device designed to tell us the time. This is Apple, however, and an Apple watch is never just a watch. Not only does it show us the time, but it also acts as a fitness monitor and a messaging device that can be connected with an iPhone.

Is this a smart invention or technology gone too far? While the Apple watch is stylish In appearance, I can't help but question certain aspects of the new device. Is it a positive thing to be able to receive messages through a watch, or is this another way of letting technology upset our social lives?

Thanks to the invention of the smartwatch, we will no longer have to reach for our phones to check our messages. Imagine the possible result. A group of friends sitting at a table in a restaurant will overlook each other as everyone will be too busy watching their wrists in expectation of a new message. Students will have a way of checking their inbox during school, despite the fact that using mobile phones is not allowed in class. The list goes on. Although smartwatches may make communicating through technology easier, it seems that using them could actually hinder face-to-face communication.

Much like a phone, the watch would also need to be charged every day. This is yet another aspect of the device which sets it apart from any "normal" watch. If, like me, you struggle when remembering to put your phone on charge, this is not necessarily a positive thing.

I do have to agree. However, the watch has some interesting and purposeful functions. As a fitness monitor, the device can be used to create and record exercise activities. This could be of particular interest to outdoor fans. While there are several existing Android Apps that can already do this. I can see that the Apple watch would be a more convenient way of exercising without a mobile phone. The question remains, however, is the price worth the benefits?

While there are clearly both advantages and disadvantages when it comes to Apple's latest invention, I personally like my single- purpose watch that simply tells me the time! What about you? Would you be interested in having a smartwatch?

    1. (1) Thanks to the invention of the Apple watch,        .
A . students don't use computers in class B . mobile phones don't need to be charged C . outdoor activities have become more popular D . messages can be checked without phones
    2. (2) The underlined word "hinder" in Paragraph 3 probably means
      A . make up B . depend on C . hold back D . look after
    3. (3) From the passage, we can learn that the writer_____________.
A . prefers single- purpose watches that tell the time B . thinks highly of the progress of technology C . introduces the newest kind of smartphones D . worries about the safety of the smartwatch
    4. (4) According to the passage, which is NOT the function of Apple Watch?
      A . Telling time B . Downloading movie C . Recording sporting activities D . Receiving message
    5. (5) What is probably the best title for this passage?
A . The Apple Watch: The Latest Invention B . The Apple Watch: Technology Gone Too Far? C . The Apple Watch: Smart and Fashionable D . The Apple Watch: A Convenient Way to Exercise?

House fires cause many deaths each year and a large number of these fires are unfortunately set by children. Kids must understand that they'd better not play with fire. You should keep matches and lighters out of their reach.

The main job of such an alarm is to protect you while you're asleep. You should have a smoke alarm outside each bedroom and on each floor of your home. You ought to have two plans for getting out of your house if there is a fire and practice these plans in the dark with your family.

A smoke alarm warns you of the danger. Take action immediately. When you come to a closed door, check it with the back of your hand. If it feels hot, there may be smoke or fire behind the door, so take care. Once you are out of your house, call the fire department from a neighbor's house If a family member or a pet is caught inside, you shouldn't go back in. Firemen know how to perform rescues safely.

Change the batteries at least once a year. You should use the test button each month to see if the alarm and batteries are still working. A smoke alarm lasts about ten years. You ought to change it even if it seems to be working.

About two out of three fire deaths happen in homes with no working smoke alarms.

    A. Most of these deaths can be avoided.

    B. But when you hear it, you don't have much time.
