Many people go to school forgood education. Some learn language, history, Maths and other subjects.(other) go to school to learn a skill. School education is very(importance) and useful. Yet no one can learn everything from school. A teacher cannot teach his students everything they want(know) .much is learned outside school by the students(them).
Great people before didn't get everything from school. Their teachers only(show) them the way. Edison didn't even finish school. The reasonthey were all so successful is that they knew how to study. They read bookswere not taught at school. They would ask many questions as they read. They worked hard all their(life). Above all, they knew how to use their heads.

In a small house outside London lives an old man, People often see him look his flowers in his garden all the time.
One day, a young painter (go) by the old man's house. He looked at the nice garden and the special room, picturing how happy he would be if he lived in such a (beauty) place. Suddenly he found the old gardener (terrible) blind. Shocked, he walked to the old man and asked, "Why are you taking care of the flowers every day which you can't see in fact? " The old man smiled, "I can tell you four reasons. First, I was gardener when I was young and I really love this job. Second, although I can't see these flowers, I can touch them. Third, I can smell the sweetness of them. As to the last, it's you."
"Me? But you don't know me," answered the painter, still puzzled.
"Yeah, it's true that I don't know you. I know flowers are gifts which everyone loves. And the beauty of my garden will get many people into a good mood," answered the old man.
The words of the gardener warm me with (please). He looked after the flowers (make) others enjoy the warm sunshine in spring. He can't see the beautiful flowers he planted, just like Beethoven, who can't hear his wonderful music .
The old man is alone but not lonely. All of his flowers are his friends and neighbours. They (grow) in his heart. I believe that he can hear the voice of them.
The story happened in ancient Greece. A man noticed the great storyteller Aesop (伊索) was playing childish gamessome little boys. He(laugh) at Aesop, asking himhe wasted his time on such unworthy activities.
Aesop responded by picking up a bow, loosening its string (弦) and placingon the ground. Then he said to the man," Now solve the riddle, if you can. Tell us what the unstrung (未上弦的) bow(mean)."
The man looked at it for a long timehad no idea what point Aesop was trying to make. The moralist (道德学家) explained, "If you keep a bow always bent (被弄弯), it will break at last; but if you let it go loose occasionally, it will be fitter for use when you want it."
So it is with us. Our minds and(body) are like the bow. When constantly under pressure, we can eventually break down. We need time(relax) ourselves. Taking time to watch the clouds, enjoy a
breeze, take a walk, read or just slow down(be) necessary if we are to be our best(late).

I was looking through my old photos last Sunday. One photo (catch) my eye. In the photo, I was sitting in a chair, hugging Duke, my best friend in the whole world.
Duke was an interesting name for such (an) little dog. But he was my friend from the moment I could walk. He stayed with me in that chair when I read (book). When I went outside (play) games, he would drive our cats up to the trees and then walk off feeling proud of (him). When he was hungry, he would carry his food dish in his mouth and drop at my mum's feet. When I was sick, he refused to leave my bed until I got (well) than before.
I learned a lot from Duke. I learned that a short sleep at noon could be good you. I learned that the simplest dinner can be delicious you eat it with great enjoyment. I learned that life can be good when you live it with love and joy.(sad), I also learned that life is short, especially if you are a dog.
To me, Duke is like a teacher who has taught me how to love and to be loved.
Some people still live in their home town. However, others may only visitonce or twice a year. Millions of Chinese leave the countryside(search)for work in the cities. Among these is Hua Xing. The big old tree is still beside the playground. Children in his time(usual) liked to play together under it. It washappy childhood.

Dear Auntie Em,
Great news! Mrs Mumford just told me I had been chosen as one of the school(student)to visit the University of Cape Town in South Africa this summer! She said the programme(design)for some of the brighter teenagers to experience a different culture.a good chance!
The only problem is: Mum and Dad(simple)won't let me go. They said it was dangerous for me, a girl, (travel)alone. But my guess is that they think it too expensive. I kept telling(they)I had been on a plane alone to visit you in Texas before. They needn't worry about methis trip would be almost the same as that one.(but)they just won't listen!
Will you help, Auntie Em? It will bevery important experience to my personal growth.
Love, (and love you even(much)if you manage to make Mum & Dad agree with me. )
