Dear Mom,
Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you very much for working so hard for us. You always get up at half past five every morning. At seven o'clock, you have to take the bus to work because our home is far from your school. You are always very busy and come back home late on weekdays. On weekdays you often help your students with their English at home. We know you are tired every day. But you are still patient(有耐心的) with your students.
Today is Mother's Day. We want to do something special for you. We made this dress for you with the help of Grandmother. Hope you can like it. And Mom, for your health, please don't stay up too late.
Yours,
Amy and Tommy
Bob Harris was a weatherman at a small TV station He worked for twenty years and in those twenty years, he thought that his life was boring. Every day, he studied the weather and tried to predict(预报) the next day's weather. Then, he stood in front of the camera and read his report. Some days it was cloudy, some days it was sunny; sometimes rainy, while sometimes snowy. The weather changed each day, but Bob still felt that his work was always the same. His boss(老板) often told him to smile(笑) more in front of the camera, but Bob seldom smiled. He thought that most people did not watch his weather report and his work did not matter much to anyone.
One day, he arrived at work and began to study the weather. He found that something was different that day. Everything he studied told him that there was going to be a very big storm(风暴) very soon, but he was not very sure. He ran to his boss office and asked to do a special weather report. The boss agreed and Bob gave a special report that afternoon, warning(警告) people of the coming storm. Because of this report, many people were safe in the storm.
Bob knew that his work was very important then.
Mount Fuji is a big beautiful mountain in Japan. It is to the west of Tokyo on the main(主要的) island of Honshu. At 3,776 meters, it is the highest mountain in Japan. People can see it in the distance on clear sunny days. The mountain is very beautiful. There is a lot of wonderful nature(自然) near Mount Fuji, such as big forests and clear lakes.
In spring, there are many flowers near Mount Fuji and everything looks very peaceful(宁静的). For this reason, Mount Fuji is the most popular in Japan. About 300,000 visitors climb the mountain each year. Although climbing Mount Fuji can be difficult, the view (风景) from the top of the mountain is wonderful. From there, you can see the wonderful hills and green forests below(在……下面). Many people go up the mountain at night so they can see the sun come up in the morning.
We had a school trip yesterday. The bus was slow but very comfortable(舒适的). When we arrived at the foot of the mountain, it was 9 o'clock. We began to climb the mountain. Along the way, we saw a lot of beautiful flowers and trees. Some students took their cameras with them.
The guide(导游) was our English teacher—Mr. Wang. His parents lived in the mountains. After we climbed to the middle of the mountain, it was about 11 o'clock. But Mr. Wang told us it was not far from his parents' house, so we walked on. In the end, we had delicious food in Mr. Wang's parents' house.
A. So he knew the way very well. B. We went to a mountain by bus. C. The trip was tiring, but we were very happy. D. I forgot to take mine, so I didn't take any photos in the mountain. E. We are all very tired(疲倦的), and we didn't want to walk any more. |
