I still remember my first Christmas adventure(冒险) with Grandma. As we walked into a store, Grandma gave me ten dollars. That was 1 money in those days. “Take the money,” she said, “and buy 2 for someone who needs it. I'll wait for you in the 3.” Then she walked out of the store.
I was only eight years old then. I had often gone shopping with my mother, but I had 4shopped for anything alone. I didn't know what 5 or who to buy it for.
I 6 everybody I knew. Finally, I had an idea. I would buy Bobby a 7! He needed one. I knew that 8 he never went out during the winter. His mother always 9a note, telling the teacher that he was ill, but all we kids knew that was not 10.
I chose a red coat. It looked really 11.
When I returned to Grandma's car, she helped me write a note “To Bobby, 12 Father Christmas''. Then she drove me over to Bobby's house.
Some time later, Grandma 13her car near Bobby's house. We got off and hid in the bushes(灌木). Then Grandma said to me, “All right, Father Christmas, get going.”
I ran to Bobby's front door, put the 14 down, rang his doorbell and flew back to Grandma. Together we waited for the front door 15 …
That night, I realized that Father Christmas was alive(活着), and we were on his team. I felt so happy.

Paul | I have ever been a volunteer as a French teacher for three months and it was a great experience to teach French. I really enjoyed it and I also improved my French. |
Helen | During my college days, I joined a group called ROS(Reaching Out Society). We provided children and older people with food. Helping other people makes me feel great. And now, I often give food to the homeless people in the street. |
Mike | I'm a volunteer at an animal shelter that's just for cats. I feed the cats and play with them. It's very fun. I was also a volunteer at a hospital for more than 2 years. I answered phone calls, looked after patients and helped nurses. I did some cleaning, too. |
Marian | I did volunteer work to graduate(毕业) from high school. It was a requirement(必要条件). I was a volunteer at a school for disabled kids. I played basketball and other sports with them and served food and drinks. It was actually pretty cool. If I weren't so busy now, I'd do it again. |

Great changes have taken place in our lives in the last century. Here are some examples:
Firstly, people were not able to travel such a long distance in such a short time in the past. Planes were not very popular at that time because they used to be a very expensive way to travel. Nowadays, we have fast and comfortable cars, and more and more people can travel by plane.
Secondly, in the past, people had to work much harder because they did not have the tools that we have today. Today, machines do most of the difficult and dangerous work.
Thirdly, the living conditions in the past were not as good as they are now. There were no bathrooms or running water in many houses, and many people couldn't buy the things like refrigerators, TV sets or washing machines. Now, most families have several of these things. And many families have computers, cars and so on.
Finally, nowadays, more and more people have the chance to get a good education. In the past, there were fewer schools and quality of education was much poorer. Now people can also study on the Internet at home.
The development of science and technology in the world is amazing(令人惊异的). Life now is much faster and busier than it used to be. And we are still creating(创造) new things to make our lives better and easier.

A very important world problem is the growth of population on the earth. The population of the world today is more than 6,500,000,000. That is a great number and we know it quite well. ①The important thing is not how large the population of the world is now, but is the rate(速度) of the growth. It is about 1.63% every year after the number of dead people has been taken away.
To give you some ideas of the birth rate, look at the ②second hand of your watch. Every second, four babies are born in the world. Another baby! Another baby! Another baby! Another baby! ③You can not speak quickly enough to keep up with the rate of the growth of the population. It is growing faster and faster. So it goes on, hour after hour. In one day, people have to find food for about 350,000 mouths more.
This great growth of population will make a big problem by the year 2050 — there will be as many as 7,500,000,000 people on the earth! So this is one of the biggest problems that you are going to meet in your life.
Your speaking rate can not be quick the rate of the growth of the population.
Many people in our country a happy life.
I'm sorry, but I didn't do it .
Everyone should protecting the environment.
Our government has many to improve the environment.
I have the computer two weeks ago.
