African girl Joelle was raised on a steady (持续不断的) diet of Disney princesses. Whenever she felt sad, her parents would play a video of Snow White, Cinderella, or Beauty and the Beast. It was always the quickest way to make her happy.

There was one princess who Joelle admired above all others. "Ariel (the Little Mermaid) fought to meet the expectations she had for her own life," Joelle says. "I like her because she desired a world she wasn't a part of."

Joelle knew that kind of desire well. Since the moment she had first begun to watch Disney cartoons, she had dreamed of creating something similar. But her parents told her that the idea wasn't practical. The girl was made to realize who created the cartoons she loved. Most of them were men and were white. That's also why there were few African characters.

Two decades later, however, Joelle had managed to create her own happy ending. "I realized that if I wanted to see myself in comics, I had to be the one to draw them," she says. Her most popular work, The Diary of Ebene Data, follows the adventures of an African teenager in Europe.

Last year, Joelle helped to organize an online exhibition of African comics. "When you say Marvel or manga, people around the world immediately know what you are talking about," she says. "We want the same to be true for African comic artists."

Like Ariel, Joelle fought to meet the expectations she had for herself. She has set a great example to young artists in Africa.

A new kind of computing called spatial computing will combine AR with the internet of things to make daily life at home even more automated (自动的).

With spatial computing, it is possible to make a digital (数字的) "map" of an environment, such as your home or a hospital. Using this map, computers can "see" what's happening in the real environment and change it properly. For example, your home's computer could turn up the heat if it sees that your body temperature is low.

A study showed that there are more pets than children in American families. Amazed? Keeping pets at home has several advantages!

Research has shown that people who are ill have fewer chances of falling into a depression (沮丧) if they keep pets compared to those patients who don't keep pets.

Pets can warn you of danger. We all know that dogs will bark when they sense someone near the house, and that can be very good for home security. The website is actually run by thousands of everyday people, as well as computers that can automatically update (自动更新) certain pages. You can even write something on the page if you want to.

Of course, it means that somebody can write incorrect information on the page. That does happen sometimes, but usually somebody else corrects the information quickly.

Wikipedia has counted how many times each page has been edited (编辑) this year and one page stood out. "Deaths in 2020" was edited 18,230 times. That is likely because lots of well-known people died in 2020.

The 2020 US presidential election (总统选举) was followed by people around the world. It was also a popular page to edit on Wikipedia. The "Donald Trump" page had nearly 9,000 edits and took seconds pot. The third most-edited page had something to do with Joseph Biden, and the election itself took the fourth spot.

Pages about movies, sports, world events like COVID-19, natural disasters (灾难), musicians and artists all appeared in the top 25 most-edited list. The different pages that were edited show how people, with totally different interests are still all looking for information.

Nowadays, many parents don't require kids to help with household chores. However, kids will finally grow up some day, leaving their parents and facing the challenges in life. Parents may not be able to solve every' problem for them.

⑴Instead, they should have enough life skills to deal with the problems that appear in their life. Actually, young children in primary school should learn to take care of themselves in daily life.
