I'm a teacher. My students can always make me feel happy. It was near Christmas during my(one) term teaching at a new school. Other teachers had told me that our children were from poor families and not to expect any child(bring) a Christmas gift. In fact, I loved the childrenenjoyed teaching, so I wasn't expecting any gifts.
Imagine my surprise when every child brought me a gift on the day before our holiday break.
First, I(get) a toy monkey from a shy girl. I was told, "He is my favorite, but I love you and I want him to be with you, Miss Taylor." happy I was!
Next came a set of Christmas tree lights that was "missing" from a mother's cupboard.
Finally, I came to one little boy's gift which I had never received. It wasold, dirty and broken Christmas storybook. Just when I wanted to express my happiness, I(stop) by the giver, "And see, it is new! It still has the price tag."
When other children laughed at him, I stopped(they) and said, "Oh, books are good in that way. The story is always new if you have not read it before. Now, let's share one together. Everyone listened(quiet) because I read the most wonderful Christmas story of my life.
I(keep)those Christmas gifts since then. They always remind me of my lovely kids.
Once upon a time, there was a little candle standing with other candles in a room. Most of other candles were much (beautiful) than her. Some were white, blue, pink, and some were green. She had no (idea) why she was there, and the other candles there made her feel rather small.
When the sun went down and the room began to get dark, she saw a man (walk) to her with a box of matches. She suddenly realized that the man was going to set her on fire. "No, no!" she cried," Don't burn me, please!" But she knew that she couldn't (hear), so she became the first candle was burnt.
Then to her surprise, the room was filled light. She wondered it came from, because the man had extinguished(熄灭) his fire stick. Then she realized that the light came from (she). It made her very happy.
Then the man struck another match and, one by one, he lighted the other candles in the room. Each one gave out the same light.
Over the next few (hour), the little candle noticed that her wax(蜡) was beginning to flow slowly.
She knew that she would soon die, and suddenly why she had been created. "My purpose on the earth is to give out light until I die," she said. And that's (exact) what she did.
Leo was a small and thin boy. Some boys in the village often made fun of him, which makes him sad. One day, a wizard saw Leo being (make) fun of. When the other boys left, the wizard went over to Leo and gave (he) a magic lion's tail. "When the person wearing it acts bravely, he (turn) into a lion."
Leo hung the lion's tail behind his body. But when the boys came, Leo was still very scared and he tried (run) away. All of a sudden, Leo felt the tail behind his body and remembered the wizard had said. He made two fists and became brave. He looked them in the (eye) and said he would make them feel sorry for what they did. Hearing this, the looks the boys' faces were changing. They looked at each other, and finally ran off as quickly as possible. Leo was very happy. He must have turned into a lion just now. But he was a bit (disappoint) that his new lion body had lasted only a short time, so that he couldn't fight them.
The wizard saw everything. "No one fights with lions, they know lions are very brave and strong." Leo understood everything. There had been no magic and no transformation. Those bad boys never dare to face a (true) brave boy. Bravery is power.
A lot of people like keeping pets. The most common pets that are (keep) across the world are cats and dogs. The followings are the major advantages (优点) of keeping pets. Pets dogs need regular walking and exercise for proper development. As you take your dog out for walk, you are also going to exercise your whole body. In fact, dog owners spent a lot more time (walk) than other people.
sharing your problems and difficulties with good friends is good, study show that spending some time with your pets might be more useful. Also, when doing something difficult, people experience (little) stress if they have their pets with them. This could possibly be because pets do not question or judge their (own); they simply support them. People who walk with their pets, especially dogs, are more welcoming and it (provide) them something to talk about with other people. This way, they can make friends much (easy).
Keeping pets has many advantages, but also has some disadvantages. Pets come with extra work and this can cause stress to people.
How can you get the most information from a book? Here are some suggestions that can help you effectively(有效地).
Read whole thing.
When you're learning something by reading, it's (important) to have a general idea than to understand every detail. In fact, no matter how (careful) you read, you won't remember or understand all of the details. So (remember) the main points will be OK.
Decide how much time you will spend.
If you know that you have only six hours a book, it'll be wise of you to adjust (调整) (you). Never start to read without planning when (stop).
Have a purpose.
Before you begin, find out you want to read this book. If you don't have reasons of your own, you can't learn much. After you start to read, try to think of four questions: Who is the writer? What are the book's (opinion)? What are the reasons? What are the conclusions?
Read it three times.
You'll get the most out of the book after you read it three times — fast-reading for general ideas, reading for understanding, reading for note-taking and remembering.
Most of us have played video games with friends, but how many of us know the games are made? Let me tell you about process in four basic stages.
First of all, most games are produced by a team who work (close) together. They have lots of meetings where the basic story and characters (discuss). When the artists have made an agreement, they produce a set of drawings can show the characters and the places in the game.
Next, the drawings are created the programmers. Then all the colors are painted, so the places and movements look real.
After that, the (part) of the story are put in order. Then the player options (选择) are produced. So now the game has (it) two key parts: the different levels of difficulty and all the tasks for the players.
The final stage is as important as the other ones: game testing. A group of players are asked (use) the game and communicate any problems they find. Once these problems are solved, a much (good) game is ready for you to play.
It was our school's yearly dancing show. I (be) excited that I was chosen by the teacher this time although I didn't have any experience of dancing for a show. I would dance in front of all the students and (teacher). It made me very proud.
However, I was a bit sad my father had no time to watch me dance. He (invite) to have a business meeting. I knew that my father would surely come to my show if he could. Luckily, my mother and my elder sister were still (come) to watch my show.
the beginning of the day, I was very nervous. After changing into the dress and getting my makeup done, I felt (relax). Then I went on to the stage bravely. I was very glad to see my mother and sister sitting in second row.
Just before the lights turned dark, I saw my father! He rushed into the hall and took the seat beside my mother. a pleasant surprise it was! The sight of my father made (I) smile. I began dancing confidently. Soon after the show, my family came backstage to congratulate me. I was so happy and lucky to have my family's support.
My Opinion about Garbage-sorting(垃圾分类)
On July 1, Shanghai introduced a new garbage-sorting regulation(法规). Everyone in the city must now sort(将……分类) his or her garbage. This sounds like great idea. I wonder — will people actually follow this regulation?
In fact, most Chinese (city) already have these recycling options(设置). Outside of my apartment building, there three bins — kitchen waste, recyclable waste and other waste. Guess how many people actually put (they) garbage into the right bin? Most people just put the garbage into whatever bin they want.
Look, I understand. Sorting garbage (correct) can be hard. For example, not everyone (know) the difference between "wet" and "harmful" garbage. And it takes time (sort) it right. How can we deal with this problem?
Actually, it can be done. In some US cities, every family must sort the garbage. they don't, they have to pay a fine.
Personally, I don't think it would be hard me to sort my garbage. I don't sort it now, but maybe I will later.
Have you ever heard of friendships among animals? At a zoo in Germany, an unusual friendship developed a cat and a bear.
No one is quite sure how the friendship first began. One day, some (worker) in the zoo noticed a black cat was in the bear's cage(笼子), and the two animals were playing together peacefully. They were surprised well the small cat seemed to get along with the large bear. The bear keeper allowed the cat to stay with the bear. And later the pair and their unusual friendship (become) a hot topic at the zoo.
After several years, a new cage (build) for the bear. However, the cat was still in the same cage, so it walked around (angry) and cried to be with the bear. The bear keeper finally took pity on the cat let it stay with the bear. The cat and the bear got (close) than before. They often sat together and shared meals in sun.
Sometimes it may be natural for animals (have) their own ideas about who would make a good friend. These may surprise humans, who usually expect animals to form relationships with others of the same species.
As a Grade 9 student, I have to face a big challenge, the PE test.
I call the PE test a big challenge because I'm not good at sports. I know is very strange that a healthy boy like me doesn't like PE. But (lucky), it's the truth I have got bad (grade) in PE since the first day I went to school. I can't run (quickly) than the other students and I also can't throw a ball very well. I spend the time reading books other students are playing games.
Time went by. When I was in Grade 7, I couldn't help (admire) my classmates. They looked so cool when playing football or basketball.
But now the PE test (give) me a chance to start exercising. I exercise every day. Sometimes I feel tired and want to give up, but when I think that if I can't pass the PE test, I might (laugh) at by my classmates, I feel full of energy and this keeps me going.
The PE test is just like enemy and I must beat it. Though I don't know I will succeed or not, I will always try my best. I'm sure I will win in the end.
