Dear friends
My name is Mandy. I live in Ottawa, Canada, and I want to make a pen friend from China. Now, I am a junior high school student. I have thirty classmates in my class. Some of my classmates have pen friends in China too. They tell me a lot about China. I think China is an interesting country, and I think Chinese people are very kind. So I want to have a Chinese pen friend.
I am fourteen years old now and my birthday is in July. I can speak French, English and a little Chinese. I have a nice family. I have a brother, Paul and a sister, Nancy. They have pen friends in America and England. Myfather works on a farm and my mother is a nurse. I love my family. I like going to the cinema with my friends on Sunday.
My favourite subject at school is P. E. I like to play football. But I don't like Maths. It is too difficult for me. I like Chinese food very much. The food is wonderful. Please write to me soon.
Yours,
Mandy
Today is Jim's birthday. He is three years old. He is happy because he gets lots of presents. After dinner, he watches TV with his parents for an hour. And then his mother says, "Time for bed. It's 7:50."
"But why don't you go to bed?" Jim asks.
"We are adults(大人). Adults can go to bed late," says the mother.
Jim doesn't want to go to bed. He asks his mother to give him a cake. His mother doesn't want him to eat it because it's too late. She says, "The cakes all go to bed."
"But not all of them, mom," Jim says. "The small cakes go to bed, but their parents aren't sleeping. They are awake. They can go to bed late. Am I right?"
A hungry fox was looking for food. He saw a frog in front of him, and thought," Ah ha! A frog! My dinner!" So he rushed at the frog.
Behind the fox was a turtle. The turtle saw what the fox was doing, and bit the fox's tail. "Ouch!" cried the fox, and looked back to see the turtle.
The frog heard the fox's voice, and jumped into the water. "Thank you, little turtle." said the frog. But the fox was angry at the turtle.
"I'll throw you into the sky!" said the fox. "Thank you! I like flying in the sky." said the turtle. "Then I'll throw you into the river." said the fox. "Oh, no! Not the river. I'm afraid of the water." said the turtle. The fox quickly threw the turtle into the river.
The turtle looked back, and said, "Thank you, Mr Fox! Bye bye!" And the turtle and the frog swam away together.
From Monday to Friday American students usually get up at seven. After breakfast they go to school on foot or on school bus. Some students ride bikes. They get to school at about 8: 30. Then they put their schoolbags in their lockers and take only one book, a notebook and a pencil to each class.
At noon students have lunch at school. Students don't have a nap after lunch. They go back to have classes until three o'clock. Then they go home.
Students usually play or watch TV before supper. They have supper at six in the evening. After supper they usually do their homework. Sometimes they play or talk with their parents.
On Saturdays, they often go shopping or go to a park. And on Sundays, they often go to church with their parents in the morning and have a big dinner at one o'clock in the afternoon.

Jack is a 13-year-old boy.

"24." He says.

His son says, "No. But let me ask you a question, dad. You often go to the post office(邮局). Please tell me how many letters there are in the post office."

Jim: Let's play computer games.
Peter: That sounds good. Where's your computer?
Jim: I don't have a computer. Do you have a computer?
Peter: No, I don't. But I have a TV. Let's watch TV.
Jim: No, it's boring. Let's play tennis. I have a tennis racket.
Peter: Good. Where is it?
Jim: On the sofa. Do you have a racket?
Peter: No, I don't. Does your brother have a racket?
Jim: Yes, he does. And he has tennis balls.
