My family and I walked around the amusement park, getting snacks and going on rides. I loved almost all types of rides. The o rides that I didn't like were rides that turn you upside-down. But my elder sister, Laura, loved them. When we finally were near a ride that went upside-down, she started asking me to go with her. I told her I didn't like those rides, but she kept asking b she really didn't want to go alone. I was feeling sympathy (同情)for her, so I stalled thinking that maybe I s go with her, even though I really don't like to go upside-down. I turned to my parents for h.
"Matt, you are allowed to stand up for yourself. If something makes you feel really uncomfortable, you can tell people n. It's OK to tell Laura that you love her, b that you can't go with her because going upside-down makes you uncomfortable. Be strong but kind when you tell her, so that she will k you're serious." When he was 16, Dutch engineering student Slat was on vacation in Greece, and he started to think about all the rubbish that is p onto beaches by water. The oceans around the world are all of plastic—millions of tons of plastic. Unfortunately, plastic doesn't just disappear. It takes c to break down(分解).
The p situation of the oceans is bad and worrying and Slat wanted to do something to change it. So he made it a personal goal to clean up the rubbish in the world's oceans.
Slat started with an idea for an unusual m to "catch" the plastic floating(漂浮) in the water using the natural energy of the ocean. He left school in 2013 to begin work on his project The Ocean Cleanup. Soon, the project r a lot of attention.
A year later, he was leading a team of 100 scientists and engineers working on the invention. Slat needed money for this, so he started asking people to d to his project online and raised over $2 million!

Suddenly, something charged( 猛冲) out of the trees at him! It was the deer, and those antlers( 鹿角) were sharp!!! Marty ran from it as f as he could. After a while, the deer s running after him. Now, he felt hungry and lonely. He realized his mom was r, packs did help them live. He hoped he could find his pack and work hard to help them as much as they help him.
It's a beautiful day for a walk in the woods. But as you turn around a bend (转弯处) and (raise) your head, you see a big face looking at you. A monster! Don't worry. It's not going (eat) you. It's a sculpture (雕像) by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. And it's made out of trash!
When Dambo was a boy, he enjoyed (build) things like tree houses. But Dambo had no money (buy) the materials he needed. So he would bike around his neighborhood looking for trash that he (recycle) for his" big projects".
