It was a summer evening almost 30 years ago. I was rocking my baby boy in my arms and when he fell asleep I put him 1 down into his crib for the night. My wife, tired out from a long day of work, was half napping and half watching TV in the living room. Not caring for the 2 , I poured myself a glass of iced tea in the kitchen, took a lawn chair off our porch (门廊) and walked into the front yard to 3 the stars.
As soon as I stepped onto the yard, I heard the sweet sound of 4 floated through the air. On the hill next to our house, the neighbor's children were 5 fireflies (萤火虫), hoping to catch one in a jar. I sat down in my chair and watched them for a while. They ran very fast, 6, they couldn't seem to catch the slow moving lightning bugs. 7, exhausted they both sat down in the grass and 8watched the little guys flying through the air, blinking their lights on and off. I drank my tea and joined them in their 9. It felt so good getting to see one of many miracles lighting up my front yard on a 10 night. It made me feel a part of something far greater than myself.
Over the years since then, I have appreciated and 11 all of the glorious light in this world. I have taken it into my heart and welcomed it into my soul. I have found it in nature, books, music, animals, prayer, and most of all in the lives of those around me. I have never tried to catch this 12, however. I have learned that true light and true love must come from 13. It must flow freely between us and can't be 14in a jar. The next time you see some fireflies then, take a seat and enjoy their light. Let them remind you to shine your own light as well. Let them remind you that you, too, are one of the 15 in this world.
I started playing the piano when I (be) five years old and still really enjoy it now. It is a perfect way to relax and it cheers me up I'm feeling down.
When I lived at home with my parents, we had lovely piano in the house. Besides, I attended piano (lesson) every week. However, when I went to university, I had to leave my family, my home and my piano behind.
I missed playing the piano so much that I spent all the money I saved on a new electric piano. I had (difficult) taking it from the music shop to my house by myself, so I took a friend with me (get) it home. When I felt tired after studying or writing a research paper, I would take a break to play something energetic, really helped remove my great stress. When I was feeling homesick, playing music made me feel much (good).
Now I'm on my year abroad and I don't have a piano any more, I still listen to a lot of classical music (write) by my favorite composers like Beethoven and Chopin. I think that, when I get home next time, I'll drive my family mad because I'll play the piano all the time.
