If you're a kid who likes to have fun and chat with friends online, here's advice on how you can stay safe.
Your parents and teachers can guide you to the best websites(网站).Some websites have age restrictions(约束), so you might want to lie about your age. It's safer to tell the truth and stay away from websites until you're older.
You can set your own passwords(密码). Passwords are your secret. It's dangerous to tell your passwords to others. So don't share your passwords with anyone.
Never tell strangers where you live or your phone number. If you're not sure whether you should share something, ask a parent. Remember that anything you put online is there forever ,even if you try to delete it. If you don't want your class to know something you shouldn't share it with anyone online, not even your best friends.
Some websites let kids make lots of friends with people they don't know. But online friends are not the same as real in - person friends. Never agree to meet an online friend in person or give out personal information. It's dangerous because some people pretend(假装)to say they are kids online but actually they are bad adults.
Probably everyone with a smartphone has ever entered a public WiFi without paying for it. However, is this kind of public WiFi safe? A survey showed that some people private information were not protected, including address, e-mails, birth dates, phone numbers and so on.
Do you like reading? Now the Internet provides people with a lot of reading materials. But if you read them in the smallest library in the world, you will feel quite different. Here is the introduction of it.
It first appeared on the streets of New York City. It was set up in a neighborhood in Manhattan. The Little Free Lihrary has space for only one person at a time. There are only 40 books in the library. In faet, it is not a house but a plastie building. The library is made of reeycled materials. It looks like an umbrella so that all the books in it can be protected from bad weather. There are also some holes outside the building. They allow readers to look at the books before they go into the library. Since the library was set up. a lot of people have paid a risit. When the idea of Litle Free Library came into being, it soon started spreading all over the United States. Later, some areas of Europe, Africa and Asia also followed its example.
The purpose of this library is to help people take a break from their pace( 步伐)of life.

A few years ago, a little boy, not (much) than eight years old, went to the store himself. While he was going b home, a dirty dog followed him. The dog was weak because it had a sore leg. After he found the dog was badly hurt, he let it follow him home.
The little boy's mother taught him to be kind and (friend). However, when the little boy asked his mother whether he would let the dog come into the house or n ,she hesitated(犹豫)." We have no room for it, she said. The poor dog seemed to understand w she said. It looked so sad! The little boy almost cried when he saw the dog's big eyes looking up to him (sad).
His mother was actually kind, too. She did not drive the poor hungry dog away, b let it stay in the yard. The little boy gave the dog some food, water and clean dry grass to lie on. They also made it clean.
After a few days the dog was better w the help of the boy and his mother. It began to show how (happily)and thankful it was, Because of their (kind), the dog finally found home. It did what dog could do to be a helpful family member.
American people like to say "Thank you" when others help them or say something kind to them. People of many countries do so, too. It is a very good habit.
You should say "Thank you" when someone passes you the salt on the table, when someone walking ahead of you keeps the door open for you, when someone says you have done your work well or you have bought a nice thing. or your city is very beautiful.
"Thank you" is used not only between friends, but also between parents and children, brothers and sisters.
"Excuse me" is another short sentence they use. When you hear someone say so behind you, you know the somebody wants to walk past you without touching you.
It's impolite to interrupt others when they are talking. If you want to speak to one of them, say " Excuse me" first, and then begin talking. You should also do so when you begin to cough or make any noise before others.
Let's learn to say "Thank you" and "Excuse me".
I was very happy that I had done well in the final exams last term. But as mid-term exams were around the corner, I started to become nervous about (A) I could make progress or not.
(C) I'm too unusual in my class.
My mother is also my history teacher and I have grown up watched by teachers of other subjects. This means I am always under a lot of pressure. I always feel that if I fall behind others, people will think badly of me. Started to force myself to stay up later and study harder than others, but soon I became tired.
Luckily, my head teacher noticed I was acting unusually. She decided to try to help me. One morning, I was reading outside the classroom. My teacher came along and said with a smile, "Peter, improving your grades by staying up late isn't a long-term way to solve problems. You have to think of other ways to improve your efficiency (效率) in short time."
I looked at (D) her and nodded.
"You are not a machine. You need rest, " she continued. "When you are studying, consider nothing but studying. But when it comes to rest, think of nothing but having a good rest! Don't pay so much attention (B) your rank in the exam, you will find that study is simple and happy; listened carefully and began to understand what she was saying. Study and rest are not like water and fire, two things that cannot be mixed. Instead, study is like reaction(反应) in chemistry and having rest is like catalyst(催化剂) that improves the reaction.
(A) ;(B)
c : the scientific study of the structure(结构) of substances(物质) and of the way that the react (反应)with other substances
