Happiness is important for everyone. Most people want to be happy but few know how to 1 happiness. Money and success alone don't 2 lasting happiness. Happiness depends on ourselves. In other words, we make our own happiness. Here are a few ways to help you be happier.
The first secret of happiness is to 3 the simple things in life. Too often, we spend so much time thinking about the future, 4, getting into college or getting a good job —that we fail to enjoy the 5. You should enjoy life's simple pleasures, such as 6 a good book, listening to your favorite music, or spending time with close friends. We were standing at the top of a church tower. My father had bought me to this place in a small Italian town far from home in Rome. I wondered 1.
"Look, Alice," my father said. I gathered all my courage and 2. I saw the square in the centre of the town. And I saw many streets around it.
"See, my dear," my father said gently. "There is 3 one way to the square. Life is like that. If you can't get to the place where you want to go by one road, try 4. "
Now I understood why I was there. Earlier that day I had begged my mother to do 5 about the lunch at school. Because she is the head of our school. But she 6. Because she couldn't believe the lunch was as bad as I said. When I turned to father for help, he said nothing 7 brought me here to give me a lesson—the value of an open mind. By the time we reached home, I had a 8. At school the next day, I secretly poured my lunch soup into a bottle and brought it home.
Then I asked the cook to serve it to my mother at dinner. The plan worked 9. Mother had just one spoonful and shouted, "The cook must have gone mad!"
Quickly I told her the truth. Mother said she would 10 the matter the next day.
Dear Mike,
Can you believe I'm in a school of 2080 now? The school is like a beautiful garden. The wall of our classroom is colourful. Our school life is interesting and wonderful.
In the morning, we have three lessons. We study on the Internet. We use the e-book. The teachers are all robots. They are of different sizes and they can answer any question about any subject. Our robot music teacher plays the violin very well. In the afternoon, we go to Mars to have two classes in a new plane that looks like our plane and spaceship. I can make friends with aliens. They are friendly and know us well. After class, we play football with aliens. Then we go back to the earth. Don't you think the life in this school is very interesting?
Yours,
Mary
