Rome can be pricey for travelers, which is why many choose to stay in a hostel(旅社). The hostels in Rome offer a bed in a dorm room for around $25 a night, and for that, you'll often get to stay in a central location(位置) with security and comfort.

    Yellow Hostel

If I had to make just one recommendation for where to stay in Rome, it would be Yellow Hostel. It's one of the best-rated hostels in the city, and for good reason. It's affordable, and it's got a fun atmosphere without being too noisy. As an added bonus, it's close to the main train station.

    Hostel Alessandro Palace

If you love social hostels, this is the best hostel for you in Rome. Hostel Alessandro Palace is fun. Staff members hold plenty of bar events for guests like free shots, bar crawls and karaoke. There's also an area on the rooftop for hanging out with other travelers during the summer.

    Youth Station Hostel

If you're looking for cleanliness and a modern hostel, look no further than Youth Station. It offers beautiful furnishings and beds. There are plenty of other benefits, too; it doesn't charge city tax; it has both air conditioning and a heater for the rooms; it also has free Wi-Fi in every room.

    Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes

Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes is located just a 10-minute walk from the central city station and it's close to all of the city's main attractions. The staff is friendly and helpful, providing you with a map of the city when you arrive, and offering advice if you require some. However, you need to pay 2 euros a day for Wi-Fi.

Have you ever heard of agritourism(农业旅游)  through which you can experience farm life? If not, Dr. Cindy Ayers Elliott will tell you the real story of Foot Print Farms.

The original concept of building Foot Print Farms was simple. When Cindy Ayers Elliott returned to her hometown after graduation, she didn't have to look any further than her state's alarming health statistics to find a mission. Everywhere she went, there were reports of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and heart disease. "The problem was already identified," explains she. "Too many Mississippians were seriously unhealthy and it didn't take research to see that. And many of the state's greatest health challenges could directly result from poor diet. "

These days, Foot Print Farms, which started with a few raised beds of herbs and vegetables, is making fresh, naturally grown food. "When speaking of the key to my success, the co-op model works because we share the work and rewards," notes Cindy Ayers Elliott. "A perfect example is the Wingfield High School football team. To earn the money for equipment and other items, players were committed to working five hours a week on the farm, and by the end of the summer they had produced 1,000 melons and the profits from their sales helped to buy weights, T-shirts, sweatsuits and pregame meals. But the lessons they learned about the rewards of hard work and working together to accomplish something were even more valuable products of their efforts. "

"It's a model that can easily be learned in other places and I'm looking forward to seeing some of our current partners do just that," she remarks. She is now looking forward to developing an agritourism aspect of the farm, where visitors can experience farm life, learn new skills and take seeds of inspiration they can sow in their own communities with them when they return home.

    1. (1) What made Cindy Ayers Elliott set up Foot Print Farms?
A . The problems faced by local farmers. B . Her further research into heart disease. C . The failure of her career after graduation. D . The health state of people in her hometown.
    2. (2) Why does the author take the football team as an example?
A . To explore the key to success. B . To support the idea of the co-op model. C . To stress the importance of teamwork. D . To advocate the concept of independence.
    3. (3) What is Cindy Ayers Elliott's attitude towards the future of Foot Print Farms?
      A . Optimistic. B . Skeptical. C . Cautious. D . Pessimistic.
    4. (4) What is the main idea of the text?
A . Naturally grown food benefits people's health. B . Agritourism is becoming increasingly popular in America. C . Cindy Ayers Elliott encourages people to experience farm life. D . Food Print Farms is making a difference in Mississippi.

It's been a few years since my three-month trip across Europe, but it is by far one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. If you have decided to go on this kind of journey, I have put together a list of important things to share with you, based on my own experiences.

You might be thinking now that you won't have time or the desire to talk to anyone back at home while you are on your great adventure. However, once you've been away for a week or two, you might start to change your idea and want to tell anything you see to them. So it's always a good idea to have a phone card that works internationally, just in case.

Before you buy a phone card plan, make sure of checking the rates! You don't want to come home with a $ 500 phone bill! In order to make sure I didn't overspend on the phone, I purchased a few $50 prepaid phone cards before I left, and then used my minutes sparingly.

Memories are never as clear, years later, as you want them to be. Pictures are nice, but you may find yourself wondering, "What was the name of that place?" Keep a diary so that you can record your daily activities, the names of people you met in a certain city, and exciting things you got to see or do.

If you don't have enough money, you can choose to stay in hostels (招待所), which are by far the cheapest way in most of Europe. And you can also take a sleeping bag with you, which will make you have a better sleep, if you have room in your pack and you don't mind the extra weight. But in my opinion, it might take up much room; you'd better not take one.

    1. (1) What might we do during our tour of Europe according to the second paragraph?
A . Become pretty homesick. B . Waste time in remaking plans. C . Spend time looking for phone cards. D . Share our trip experiences with our families.
    2. (2) Which of the following words has the closest meaning to the underlined word "sparingly" ?
      A . Gently. B . Quickly. C . Carefully. D . Freely.
    3. (3) What does the author advise us to do in the last paragraph?
A . Book hostels in advance. B . Early to bed, early to rise. C . Make sure our items are well-packed. D . Take as few things as possible.
    4. (4) What does the author mainly want to tell us by writing this passage?
A . How to save money on phone bills. B . How to have a good night's sleep. C . How to keep a record of our journey. D . How to prepare for a European trip.
  • 4. 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

Part drama, part dark comedy, the film To the Bone talks about a young woman's struggle with anorexia(厌食症). Though the film has already got generally positive reviews at the Sundance Film Festival, it has caused a hot debate about whether it could be harmful to those with eating disorders.

Critics of the film have focused on the leading role Lily: a thin, young, white woman with anorexia. They think there're some plots that have made eating disorders look like trends instead of life-threatening illnesses. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anorexia has the highest mortality rate (死亡率) of any mental illness. Thirty million Americans struggle with eating disorders at some point in their life.

Director Marti Noxon based the film on her own battle against anorexia. She was aware of the film's potential to have harmful effects and then tried to be really careful in the way she showed how Lily looked. "You want to help other people understand something that they've never experienced, but you also want people who have experienced it to feel understood and seen," she added. "We are balancing a lot. I want to avoid the idea that the perfectionism of anorexics is their most obvious character. "The film caught the attention of Liana Rosenman, who founded Project HEAL, an organization that helps eating disorder sufferers afford treatment. "I think it is very powerful," Rosenman said. "There is a sense of humor and wisdom in it as well as just understanding what it's like to have an eating disorder. " Project HEAL recently played To the Bone in New York and Los Angeles, but it has faced sharp criticism from members of their community on social media.

    1. (1) What do we know about the film To the Bone from Paragraph 1?
A . It tells of the growth story about a girl. B . People have no interest in it. C . It is popular among young people. D . It has received mixed comments.
    2. (2) What do Noxon's words suggest?
A . She admitted the film is harmful to people. B . She tried hard to make the film benefit people. C . All those suffering from anorexia want to be perfect. D . People who haven't experienced anorexia can't understand it.
    3. (3) What's Rosenman's attitude towards the film?
      A . Supportive. B . Negative. C . Uncertain. D . Unconcerned.
    4. (4) Where's the passage probably from?
      A . A medical magazine. B . A health column. C . A film review. D . A newspaper report.

Everyday Habits of People with Impressive Memory

People with impressive memory generally admit that they use various strategies to improve their ability. But even if you're not a memory genius, there are things you can try.

    Establish routines

For example, always hang your car keys on a hook or put them in the same place by the front door. By following established routines, you are decreasing the chance of having to struggle in the morning rush, which is believed to contribute to forgetfulness.

    Use Post-it notes

Keep some in every room and stick a reminder where you are most likely to see it. If you need to remember to phone a friend later in the day, put a note on the phone so that you will notice it during the day.

    Embrace the technology

Your cell phone comes with a built-in calendar you can set to remind you of what you need to do during the day. Use it! Having access to them wherever you go with a smartphone only makes them even more effective. There is a saying that what gets scheduled gets done.

Research indicates that most people need six to eight hours of sleep (that's at least two cycles of deep sleep) per night for their brain to go through the chemical changes needed for long-term memory. A good sleep can make all the difference in your brain power and therefore gives you a sharpened mind.

    A. Have enough sleep

    B. Sharpen the mind

    C. To-do lists are also keys to living an organized life. D. This simple activity can help improve your memory by 20 percent.

    E. These common-sense strategies can help you forget less often.

    F. It is really easier to find things if you always put them in the same place.

    G. If not, write it down and put it where you can see it, so you don't forget about it.

    A MOTHER'S DAY SURPRISE

The twins were filled with excitement as they thought of the surprise they were planning for Mother's Day. How pleased and proud Mother would be when they brought her breakfast in bed. They planned to make French toast and chicken porridge. They had watched their mother in the kitchen. There was nothing to it. Jenna and Jeff knew exactly what to do.

The big day came at last. The alarm rang at 6 a.m. The pair went down the stairs quietly to the kitchen. They decided to boil the porridge first. They put some rice into a pot of water and left it to boil while they made the French toast. Jeff broke two eggs into a plate and added in some milk. Jenna found the bread and put two slices into the egg mixture. Next, Jeff turned on the second stove burner to heat up the frying pan. Everything was going smoothly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was too hot and the bread turned black within seconds. Jenna threw the burnt piece into the sink and put in the other slice of bread. This time, she turned down the fire so it cooked nicely.

Then Jeff noticed steam shooting out of the pot and the lid starting to shake. The next minute, the porridge boiled over and put out the fire. Jenna panicked. Thankfully, Jeff stayed calm and turned off the gas quickly. But the stove was a mess now. Jenna told Jeff to clean it up so they could continue to cook the rest of the porridge. But Jeff's hand touched the hot burner and he gave a cry of pain. Jenna made him put his hand in cold water. Then she caught the smell of burning. Oh dear! The piece of bread in the pan had turned black as well.
