Mum: You look so happy, John! Is there anything interesting today?
John: Yes, mum. We had a special lesson at school, today.
Mum: A special lesson?
John: Uh-huh, Chinese astronauts, Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu, taught us a live science lesson in the Tiangong space station, 400 kilometers above Earth.
Mum: Really?
John: They showed us how they lived and worked inside the space station.
Mum: .
John: Yes and no. They also use the microwave and fridge in the space kitchen, which can help them to heat and store food.
Mum: What about the differences?
John: . In a buoyancy experiment(浮力实验), Wang put a table tennis ball in a glass of water. Instead of floating to the surface like on Earth, the ball remained in the middle of the water. Buoyancy almost disappeared in the weightless environment.
Mum: That's amazing! What else?
John: She created a water film (水膜) using a metal ring and a bag filled with water. . The bud blossomed (开花) magically on the film.
Mum: That must be beautiful. You are so lucky. The development in communications technology of China has made it possible to transmit (传输)real-time video from space to the ground.
John: It's so amazing! .
Mum: Go ahead.
[Mum smiles and hopes this lesson can take root in his heart as a seed, and ultimately grow into towering trees.]

Do you know the two lovely mascots (吉祥物)? You may know the five "Fuwa" dolls from the 2008Beijing olympic Games (奥运会). On September 17 of 2019, the two lovely mascots first showed on TV. Now, let's see who they are.
Look at the panda! It looks like an astronaut(宇航员). It wears an ice shell (冰壳) and looks fat, so we call it "Bing Dwen Dwen". White is the color of ice and snow. "Bing Dwen Dwen" likesice sports very much and is good at them. That's why it is the mascot of 2022 Beijing Winter 0lympicGames.
Do you think the red mascot looks like a lantern (灯笼)? The lantern's name is "Shuey RhonRhon". When the Chinese New Year comes, people always make or buy red lanterns. Red is the color of hope and good luck, so people think their dreams will come true in the new year. "Shuey RhonRhon" can give players hope and help them do well in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games(残奥会).
Many people in different countries like the two mascots very much, and they show their love for them on the Internet.
Home to the yearly World Internet Conference (WIC), Wuzhen, a water town in East China's Zhejiang Province, has always been connected with technology.
Wuzhen's People's Park was built in the 1950s. But this traditional park is now a center with the latest technologies, powered by technologies including 5G, AI and AR, 23 interactive displays have been set up in the park.
An Al assistant(助手) is placed at the park's entrance. Prom weather forecast to the price of meat and vegetables, it provides daily-life information for the local people.
Square dancing is popular in China. A big screen has been put up in the park's square, and dancers can learn routines(路线) from the screen or use it as a music player. Using AR, dancers can see themselves through the special camera, making the screen a "mirror".
The rubbish cans here are smart, too. The rubbish can open by itself when it senses something moving near. It then sorts the rubbish and tells you which kind it falls in.
The virtual(虚拟的) zoo in the park is the children's favorite. By using the park's app to scan (扫描) the area, visitors can check out virtual animals by AR cameras.
The park is not just a collection of technologies put together for no reason. All the services were designed according to people's actual needs, which showed us what" technology+" could be like in the future.
①It opens.
②It scans people.
③It sorts the rubbish.
④It tells people which can to drop.
⑤It puts the rubbish people throw in the right can by itself.
September usually marks the start of a new season — but what you call that season depends on where you are and whom you ask.
In the UK, people will tell you it's "autumn". However, cross the Atlantic(大西洋) and you'll find that people use both "fall" and " autumn" when talking about this time of year. In the English language, the season has two widely accepted names. Why does it have to be so confusing(令人困惑的)?
According to Dictionary. com, "fall" isn't a modern nickname(昵称) that followed the more traditional "autumn". The two terms were actually first recorded within a few hundred years of each other.
Before either word appeared in the dictionary, the seasons separating the cold and warm months didn't have common names. The main thing people did during the pre-winter period was gather crops, so it was called "harvest" in old English.
Then, in the 1600s, more and more people left rural farms and moved into cities. Without farming, the term "harvest" became less useful to people in cities. Some English speakers needed a different name for the season. They knew leaves fell from trees during that season, so people called the season" the fall of the leaf", or "fall" for short. But by the end of the 1600s, autumn, from the French word "autompne" and the Latin " autumn us", had been introduced in England and replaced "fall" as the standard term for the harvesting season.
At the same time, British people were making their first trips to North America. They brought the words "fall" and" autumn" with them. Today, using both words to describe the season is a very American thing.

Artificial intelligence (AI, 人工智能) has slowly become a part of our everyday lives. One of the biggest uses for AI is facial recognition (FR).
FR has now been put to use in subway stations in Zhengzhou, Henan province. Passengers can link their phones to the subway's smartphone app.
FR technology can greatly speed up security checks. Yuan Xiaoqin, a park manager in Hangzhou, told China Central Television the reason the park upgraded (升级) its entry system:" Facial recognition can help a visitor enter the park in two or three seconds. Fingerprint information sometimes isn't sensitive(灵敏的), especially in cases of injury or when the fingers are too dry to enable recognition. "Before, the park used a fingerprint entry(进入) system.
However, some people are worried about the security risks that FR can bring.
According to China Daily, many people feel uncomfortable using facial recognition. They worry that their information could be stolen.
In August, a face-swapping(换脸) app called Zao allowed users to imitate(模仿) celebrities through the use of facial recognition. Users worried that the app was collecting a large amount of personal information.
Sometimes people can refuse to use some apps if they don't want to put their personal information at risk, but sometimes people don't have a choice.
Zhao Zhan ling, a legal researcher at the China University of Political Science and Law, said growing worries over facial recognition are understandable. Once information is stolen, it's hard to take effective measures to stop it.
There is no law in China to regulate the use and collection of facial information, Zhao said, adding that companies and local governments should be careful to prevent abuse of the technology.

There was a businessman who was deep in debt and could see no way out. He sat on a park bench, head in his hands.
Suddenly, an old man appeared before him. "I can see that something is troubling you," he said. After listening to the businessman's story, the old man put a check in the man's hand, saying, "Take it and pay me back here exactly one year from today. "Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.
The businessman saw in his hand a check for $500, 000 signed by John Rockefeller, one of the richest men in the world!
"I can pay off my debt!" he realized. But instead, the businessman decided to save the check. Just knowing it was there might give him the power to save his business, he thought.
He went back and worked hard to make his business successful. Soon, he was out of debt and making money again.
Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the check. The old man appeared as planned. Behind the old man was a nurse. The nurse said that the old man was mentally ill and was always telling people he was John Rockefeller.
The businessman was shocked to hear this. All year long he'd been buying and selling, believing that he had half a million dollars behind him. Suddenly, he realized that it wasn't the money that had turned his life around. It was his self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve success.
