Because of COVID-19, people have been trying different ways to keep safe. To keep students and staff(工作人员) safe and healthy, a high school in Shanghai has taken action. The school not only takes the usual preventive measures(预防措施), but also buys an Al robot. The robot now works as a cook in the school dining hall
The robot, built by a technology company, came to the school in October last year. It starts to work at 8 am every day. It helps with different jobs in the kitchen. What's more, it is able to cook more than 1, 000 dishes. With the help of the robot, the school restaurant reduces (减少) the contact(接触 ) humans have with the food.
At first, the school was worried that the students might not like the robot-made meals. However, the students thought they tasted great and many of them thought they were even better than home cooking. Gu Xinyan, a seventh-grade student, said, "Il feel that the meals cooked by the robot are better than those prepared by my parents. l also get to eat different dishes every day. "
Now not many people would like to use such machines as it means some cooks may lose their jobs. But such robots can reduce the costs(成本) and improve control ability.
Singapore is a green city. Thanks to all the trees here, Singapore has become a fantastic place to live. From time to time, there are Tree Planting activities around the city.
That day, when we came to the place, workmen had arrived with lots of young trees. There were large patches (块) of grass where people would plant the trees. We had to be careful not to plant too close to another family's trees, or the young trees wouldn't grow properly. My father and I dug a deep hole and we put the roots of the tree into it. We planted three trees in all. As I looked at the thin and short trees, I wondered how they could grow into big trees like those along the sides of the road.
Where there was once only grass, there were many young trees. I could imagine how great it would look when these young trees grew to their full sizes!
Several months has passed and the young trees have grown a little. Next year I will take part in the Tree Planting Day activities again for sure.
