My name's Blackie. I have a special job. I help a boy, Sam. Because he cannot see.

Every day I take Sam to school. I am with Sam at school all day. In P.E. classes, I always walk and run next to Sam. I don't want Sam to fall down! I like Sam's music class a lot. All the children sing, so I sing with them. Everyone thinks I am very funny.

After school I take Sam to buy an ice-cream. He always gives me some of his ice-cream. I love ice-cream! Then we walk home or take the bus. The people on the bus always tell me, "Good boy!"

In the evening, I sit next to Sam's chair to watch him. He eats dinner and then he does his homework. After dinner, we sit together to listen to the stories by mom. It's the happiest time in a day. At night, Sam sleeps in his bed. I sleep on the floor next to him. I don't want to leave him! It's my job to look after him, and he is my best friend!

One day, I had a bad toothache. I couldn't eat anything. So I went to see the dentist.

"What's wrong with your teeth?" asked the dentist,

"I have a toothache," I told him.

"Let me see your teeth....Um, there's a hole in one of the teeth. Do you eat a lot of sweet food?" the dentist asked me.

"Yes, I do, I often cat ice cream. biscuits. chocolates and I often drink coke and milk with sugar," I told him.

In 2003, SARS broke out(爆发)in Guangdong. Later, it spread across China and other parts of the world. Patients coughed a lot and got fevers. Hundreds of patients even died of the disease (疾病). Even many doctors and nurses got SARS when they were working. So everyone was afraid of it. But Zhong was brave enough to fight against the disease. Zhong spent days and nights finding out the cause of the disease.And with his way of treating, many patients began to get better. Zhong finally won people's trust.

In early 2020, a disease called the COVID-19 virus(新型冠状病毒肺炎)hit Wuhan. It spread quickly and tens of thousands of Chinese people were infected(感染). Zhong led his team to Wuhan to fight against the illness. Zhong's team took many measures to cure the patients with the COVID-19 virus. He advised people to wear masks, wash hands frequently(频繁地),stay at home and not to go to crowded places. Zhong likes sports very much. Although he is very old, he can still play basketball.

Now at the age of 85, Zhong still treats patients in the hospital and teaches young doctors, "I am just a doctor," Zhong says. But we think he is a hero and a fighter.

American schools must obey the classroom rules. Here are some of them.

If the teacher asks you a question, you should answer it at once. If you do not understand the question, you can put up your hand and ask the teacher to say it again.

You must not be absent (缺席  ) on a test day. If you are seriously ill, let the teacher know. If your teacher allows make-up tests, you'd better take the test within one or two days after you return to class.

It is rude（不礼貌的）to be late. If you are late, you should come into the classroom and go to your seat quickly. In the US it is not necessary to knock before you enter the classroom.

In America, you should call your teacher by his or her last name, not "teacher". Also you should use Mr. Miss, Ms or Mrs before the last name, such as Mrs Smith or Mr Jones.

In the US, it is impolite to eat, drink or chew gum (口香糖  ) during class. Don't do these until（直到）the break.

    Tommy has a little dog. Her name is Goldier. She is pretty and interesting. Tommy loves her very much.

    The other day, Goldier was out walking with Tommy. She cut her paw (爪子) on a bit of glass. When they arrived home, Tommy's mother thought that the cut was deep. She asked Tommy to take Goldier to the vet. (兽医) The vet was very kind, and he gave her an injection. (注射) Then he stitched up the cut and put on a bandage.

    Goldier looks ever so funny as she walks on three legs, holding her paw as if she has been to war!

    Lisa was a single mother who lived with her little son. She lost her job two years ago and they had a very hard life. Being poor was terrible. Her heart was broken every time her son asked, "Can I have some more bread and jam please, Mommy?"

    One day, when her son asked the same question again, she decided to prepare a big meal for him with the only 6 dollars in her hand. She went to the supermarket, bought some food and cooked at home. Lisa was a shy mother, but she was strong— minded. "It's time to make a change, "she thought. She used to love writing. Suddenly, an idea came to Lisa's mind, "Why not share my recipes (食谱) on the Internet? "She did. Many people liked her recipes and she became popular.

    Soon after that, some reporters interviewed her and asked her to write a book on cooking. When Lisa got the money for the book she wrote, she had a good sleep for the first night during the two years. Now Lisa has a well—paid job and a beautiful home, but she'll never forget the days when she worked hard for a good life.

    Hi, I'm Tom. When I was about 12 years old, a girl in my class liked to point out my problems. I was too thin; I wasn't a good student; I talked too much; I was too proud and so on. At last, I became very angry and ran to my father.

    He listened to me quietly. Then he asked, "Are these things true or not? Do you know what you are really like? Go and make a list of what she said and find the things that are true. "

    I did as he told me. To my great surprise,I found that about half of the things were true. Some of them I couldn't change (like being very thin). But there were things I could and wanted to change. For the first time, I got a clear picture of myself.

    I brought the list back to Dad. He didn't take it. "That's just for you, " he said. "You know the truth about yourself better than anyone else. When people say something that is true about you，you should find it helpful. "
