Susan was a quiet girl and she had few friends. She was a bit nervous when she went to high school, because she was going to live with someone she didn't know in a town 300 miles away from home. She had no idea how to make friends in the new environment.

but later they will probably get a job at a fast-food restaurant, video store, or clothing shop.
Sixteen is the legal(法律规定的) driving age in most states, and students usually want to own a car as soon as they can. Others would like their children to earn enough money to offer a used vehicle. Many teenagers feel it's necessary to own one, and will do whatever it takes to be able to drive.
