Carl is a 12-year-old boy. He lives in a small town in Syria (叙利亚). Carl lost his home because of war (战争). Now he lives in a camp with his family.
Carl is short but strong. He is good at sports. He can play football very well. Carl's father is his football coach(教练). He is strict(严格的)with Carl. He always says, "No pleasure without pain." So Carl practices and practices. He hopes he will be a famous football star like his idol Cristiano Ronaldo(C罗) .
Today is November 10th. Carl will have his thirteenth birthday next Friday. He has many wishes (愿望)for his birthday. He wishes he would have a new football. He wishes he would be a good football player. He wishes his family would have a new house. But his greatest wish is that the war in his country would end soon.

Anna: What time do you usually get to (到达) school?
Oliver: I often get to school at about 7:30. I sometimes get to school after 7:50.
Anna: I see. Do you live far from our school?
Oliver: Yes. It's a little far. I usually go to school by school bus. Sometimes I go to school in my mother's car. She works in the hospital (医院) not far from our school.

Water is very important to us. If you don't have water for three days, you will die. We can use water for flowers, swimming, washing and many different things. We use it to cook, make electricity (发电), put out fires（灭火） and so on. We use millions of liters (百万公升) of water every day.
Do you know how does the water come to your home? It travels through water pipes (管子).
Some are long and wide, but some are short and narrow. Then the water travels through the water pipes to the reservoirs (水库). Then it travels through the water pipes to the river and to the special factories(we call water plants)that purify (净化） the water. When the water is purified, we can drink it. Please don't leave garbage (垃圾) in the water on which we line, and keep the water clean.
It's Monday. The students are having an English class. The teacher is speaking. But Tom and Jack are not listening to the teacher. They are talking loudly. The other students can't hear the teacher. They are very angry. They say to Tom and Jack angrily, "Please do not talk. We are having a class. We can't hear our teacher. You are not polite. Please listen to the teacher carefully." Tom and Jack answer, "Sorry. We are wrong. "
Water has no colour，no shapes，no taste and no smell. Water is everywhere. It's in the ocean, in the sea, in the river and in the lake. Water is useful. We use water to cook rice. We use water to take showers. We use water to put out fires.
Water brings us happiness too. We can swim in the lake and sea in summer. People in China have the Dragon Boat race in the river.
Water is so important. Nothing can live without it. We should keep our water clean and protect our earth.

Today is Saturday. I get up at seven and have breakfast at seven thirty. I am going on a trip with my family. We set off at eight o'clock. We come to the mountain. We climb up the mountain and reach the summit(顶端).
