Helping Our Planet (星球)
Two students are talking about how they go to school. Joe: Mike, how do you go to school?
Mike: I go to school by car.
Joe: Did you know that using a car is bad for our planet?
Mike: No! I didn't know that. What can I do to help the planet?
Joe: You can go to school by bike.
Mike: What about going to school on foot?
Joe: Yes! Going to school on foot is good for our planet. It is also good exercise!
Mike: Okay, I will start going to school on foot. Let's see if we can get more students from our class to go to school on foot.
Joe: That's a great idea! We will be helping our planet!
A day at the beach
Alice has breakfast at eight o'clock today. She is going to the beach with her friends.
At nine o'clock, Alice meets her friends at the bus stop. They wait for the bus together. The bus comes at ten past nine. Then they get on the bus.
They arrive at the beach at half past nine. Jill gets some sandwiches and Alice gets some drinks from a shop.
They all have fun. Peter goes swimming in the sea. Alice and Jill play beach volleyball. Joe sits down and reads a book. He enjoys the sunshine.
They all sit down for a picnic lunch at half past eleven.
It is half past twelve. The children collect the rubbish(垃圾)on the beach before they leave.
John's family move to another place. John has to go to a new school. He is sad, because he doesn't have friends here. All the children in his new class try to make him happy. By the fourth day, he begins to like the school a little bit.
The next day it is raining at play time. John gets a puzzle to do. Some of the pieces are missing. So John decides to sort out(整理) all the puzzles. Everyone is pleased. John gets a badge(徽章) for helping.
John says, "I love my new school and friends."
Water is very important for us. We must drink water every day. We can't live without water. Water is everywhere around us. At home, we use water to wash clothes, to wash dishes, to cook rice, to clean the flat, to have showers, to make drinks, to clean our teeth, to have a bath and so on.
At work, people use water to put out fires, to grow vegetables, to make things in factories and so on. We also can swim in the sea.
Water is important for us, isn't it?
Tom: Excuse me. How can I get to the Hope building on New Street?
Police: Walk down center street and turn left when you see a big supermarket, then you are on New street. Walk along New Street. The tall building you see on your right is Hope building.
Tom: Walk down and turn left, and then the tall building on my right?
Police: Yes, you won't miss it.
Tom: Thank you very much.
Police: You are welcome.
Many students are going spring outing. Some students are boating. And some students are having a picnic. The others are playing games. There is a girl siting on a chair reading a book. The sky is blue. The trees are green. The flowers are red. It's a very beautiful park. They have a good time!
It's Saturday today. It's cloudy and windy. The wind is blowing gently. There are many children in the park. Some are dancing happily. Some are riding bikes happily. There is a windmill in the park. It is moving slowly. Zhang Peng is playing football with his friends. Lily is skating a skateboard fast and far.
Kitty: Where do you live, Jenny?
Jenny: I live on Orange Street. It's quite far away from school.
Kitty: How do you come to school?
Jenny: I come to school by bus. What about you, Kitty?
Kitty: I walk to school. I live near school. How long does it take?
Jenny: About half an hour.
Kitty: When do you leave home?
Jenny: I leave home at 7:00.
Kitty: So you get up early, right?
Jenny: Yes.
Kitty: Do you go home by bus too?
Jenny: No. My father meets me at the school gate. I go home by car.
My grandfather is sixty years old. He lives in the countryside (乡村). Today, my father, my mother, my brother Ben and I go to visit him. He is very happy. Look! He is cooking lunch in the kitchen. My father is washing vegetables and my mother is cleaning the yard (院子). My brother and I both like swimming. He is swimming in the lake behind the yard. There is a garden in Grandfather's yard. Grandfather grows a lot of flowers and vegetables in the garden. I often help him water flowers in the garden.
There are four seasons in a year. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. People like spring because it is colourful. The weather in spring is neither too hot nor too cold. People can fly kites in spring. In summer, people can swim in the swimming pool. The weather is very hot in summer. It's cool in autumn. The most wonderful thing is that we can eat all kinds of fruits. In winter, it is very cold. It is snowy sometimes. People can play with snow. Every season is very beautiful.
