When I was young, I was so interested in Chinese movies that I wanted to know more about Chinese culture like kung fu and xiqu. I often 1 to go to China one day.
Luckily, when I was learning theater at university, I was provided with a chance to studly 2. There was a program to study Asian theater arts either in China or in India. I 3 to go to China and learn Beijing Opera in a Chinese theater school. The school offered me a place to practice, I was good 4 I could practice whenever I wanted. Also I had 5 lessons—the teacher would give me one-to-one class for three hours. That was the best part of my study in China. I do appreciate this chance to 6 the beautiful art!
I got a lot from my study in China. It has greatly 7 me and helped me develop into a more skillful 8. This Chinese art gives me plenty of 9, so I can use them when I perform other shows in Europe. I have 10 an art center to teach Beijing Opera. Now there are more fans of Beijing Opera in my country.
There are about 200 countries in the world. People live there, and they speak all kinds of languages. In fact, there are about 7,000 languages and dialects in the world.
People use those languages to 1 with others. They talk to each other. They learn about and 2 new ideas and knowledge. They can do all that in person and on the Internet.
However, there is a 3. Not all 7,000 languages and dialects are on the Internet. A lot of them are missing. According to a UNESCO study, 98% of the pages on the Internet are in just 4. Also, over 50% of those are in English. That's 5 for English speakers but not for many others.
A part of the problem comes from computer 6. They only have letters in English or the other main languages on the Internet. So, it's 7 for the speakers of the missing languages to type their words.
Another part comes from computer programs. They are also in English and the other main languages. So, to 8 them, the speakers of the missing languages must have knowledge of the main languages.
People are working to solve this problem. They don't want to 9 any of the world's languages. They also want 10 to be able to use the Internet. Now, Wikipedia has articles in over 300 languages. It's not much, but it's a start.

There was once a lion in the forest. He had never been able to roar. But no other animals knew about this. Since he realized he couldn't roar from an early age, he had learned to talk softly with everyone and convince them without raising his voice. This won him the trust of all the animals in the forest.
But one day the lion couldn't find a way to convince a pig. This made the lion want to roar at the pig, but he couldn't. To solve this problem, he spent a few months inventing a roaring machine. When he met the pig again, the lion used the machine. It sent out a very loud roar. Not only did this shock the pig, it also shocked other animals. For months they were afraid to come out. The lion became sad and lonely. He realized that roaring was a useless way to make others listen to him. So he never used the machine again.
Little by little, using his soft voice and convincing words the lion managed to win the animals' trust again.
As a country develops, its people usually enjoy better health care, drink cleaner water, and have more food. However, people's lifestyle is changing at the same time. They have busier lives. They eat more processed food, which has more fat, salt, and sugar. As a result, the number of people with certain illnesses is increasing.
Diabetes(糖尿病) is an illness that has become more common. According to the WHO, the number of diabetes patients in the world rose by nearly 4% from 1980 to 2014. And the number is still rising.
In the past, diabetes was more common in rich countries. However, in recent years, the number has been rising more rapidly in developing countries. Take China for example. In 1980, less than 1% of the population in China had diabetes, but now more than one in ten Chinese over 18 have diabetes.
It is possible to control diabetes with medicine, but there is no cure. There are things, however, that people can do to avoid it. If they are overweight, they should try to lose weight. They should also avoid foods high in fat and sugar. People should exercise often. Besides, they should walk or ride bikes more instead of traveling by car. If people change to this healthier lifestyle, we may be able to stop the rise in diabetes in the future.
Do you ever give up easily in difficult situations? If so, imagine yourself as someone with great abilities, like Batman. It will help you feel strong. You will not give up easily and will probably do better. This is called the Batman Effect.
In a study, researchers gave three groups of six-year-old children a difficult task to complete on a computer. In Group One, the children were told to repeat asking themselves, "Am I working hard?" In Group Two, the children were told to ask themselves the same question in the third person—as in "Is Sam working hard?" And in Group Three, the children were told to imagine themselves as Batman and ask themselves, "Is Batman working hard?" Researchers found that the children in Group Three did the best.
How can you make use of the Batman Effect? Imagine yourself as someone who is the best for the task you are doing. If you're facing a personal difficulty, imagine yourself as a wise family member. If you're running a race at school, imagine yourself as a top runner. In this way, you can become a little more like the person you wish to be.
When Nerino was made head of the tribe (部落), everyone expected him to fight against a dangerous animal. It had eaten many people. And Nerino promised to kill it.
However, nothing was done. The animal often showed up in summer. The tribe just moved the village.
People asked Nerino to be brave and to fight. But Nerino simply said, "I will keep my promise, but now isn't the time." Years passed by. Nerino didn't do anything about the animal. People believed he was a coward.
Yet, on a snowy night, suddenly, Nerino said it was the perfect time. He led a group of people to get to the anima's cave, Nerino confidently entered, while others moved slowly and were ready to be eaten.
When they were inside the cave, they saw Nerino standing over the animal. It was close to death. Everyone was surprised and wanted to hear about the fight. Nerino said, "The animal never showed up during the worst days of winter. For many years I was waiting for a snow as heavy as this one. Now, it is the weakest, so I can kill it easily."
Now everyone in the tribe learned that, sometimes, patience can be much more useful than action.
When I was alone at home one day, I was more excited than being afraid. My parents had gone for an invitation and left me behind. I was feeling free like a bird for the first time in my life.
I read a storybook for about an hour and then decided to take a break. I sat on the sofa and watched TV. It was around 7:30 pm and I was watching my favorite program when the lights went off. I found myself in darkness. "What bad luck," I thought to myself. I was feeling a bit afraid in the dark. Suddenly I heard a loud thud on the door. Then again another loud knock! My heart beat fast! I called my neighbor immediately. At that time, the electricity was on again. I didn't feel clam until my neighbor came.
We heard some noises in the kitchen. When we walked closer, we saw two monkeys sitting on the table. I pulled out a large bag from the shelf and threw it on the animal. My neighbor was quick to pounce on it and quickly tied up the bag. The other monkey ran away through the window and now we had caught one!
The next day the workers from the zoo came and took the monkey away. People in my neighborhood were now talking about my story. I felt proud that I was now the hero of the town.
