Do you have cold feet in winter? But now if you wear a pair of UGG boots, you won't be troubled by that.
UGG means Australian Sheepskin Boots. UGG boots became popular among shearers (剪羊毛的人) in the 1920s.The shearers sheared the sheep and grabbed a bit of dead sheep, wrapped it around their feet and called them "Ugly Boots". Good old Australian slang shortened Shearers Ugly Boots to UGG boots. Thus UGG Boots date back as far as the 1920s in Australia.
UGG boots became so popular because of the amazing amount of comfort they bring to the feet. The sheepskin is made incredibly soft so the boots are warm and comfortable. UGG boots felt more like socks than shoes, yet they are tough enough for outdoor wear.
Our UGG boots are handmade with Australian sheepskin of the highest quality by our factory of UGG Original Pty Ltd.
We can wear UGG boots in cold weather or summer. In cold weather, the thick wool of UGG boots provides a preventing layer of warmth by trapping your body heat. In the heat of summer, the natural fibres of the wool will actually cool your feet by absorbing sweat. UGG boots are made to be worn barefoot to maximize the cushioning and warmth provided by the sheepskin.

It was a rainy day and I was walking down the street feeling comfortable and happy. I wanted to do something kind for someone else without any reason and purpose, almost as if I was just trying to spread the abundance (充足) of love I was receiving. It was then that I saw a teenage girl dressed in tattered clothes, getting soaked(湿透). She wasn't wearing any shoes or socks. The rain wet her skin through the holes in her clothes and she was making her way through the garbage, trying to find something that would be of use to her.
I walked towards her and told her to wait for me there while I ran home to get her something. On getting home, I took off my shoes, which I really loved, wrapped them up in a plastic cover and ran to give them to the teenage girl on the street.
The girl looked surprised as if she was not used to this kind of kindness. She thanked me in a trembling (颤抖的) voice.
A famous musician who lives down the street corner stopped his car and smiled when he saw what happened. The two watchmen who saw me do this talked and gave me friendly looks.
Although I had to wear my dad's shoes, I was satisfied even if they were a bit large for my feet, because I knew the girl would walk comfortably wearing the shoes. That day I learned that letting go off the little things we own can be a big help to others.
Scientists in Michigan have developed a forest fire alarm system. It can not only monitor when a fire begins but also call for help. This battery-free device hangs in a tree and gains all the energy it needs from the natural swinging of branches. Such a sensor (传感器) could watch the woods for a decade without humans' attention.
"For forest fire monitoring, you don't need high amounts of energy," says Cao Changyong, an engineer at Michigan State University, who led the team behind the new device. It recharges itself about every 10 minutes with just enough power to take a measurement. That's plenty of time, Cao says, "to produce enough energy."
There's an obvious need for fast monitoring of faraway forests. Every year, fires burn millions of acres in the United States. Early findings also can save lives. Right now, forest fires are found from satellites or fire towers. Neither, Cao says, is as fast or low-cost as tree-hanging sensors would be.
Cao's group faced some challenges in creating its new sensors. For example, these have to produce enough power to check the forest and send out a signal and that power source has to be used for longer time. To deal with the problems, they decided to change mechanical motion (机械运动) into electricity. The device to do this is known as a TENG short for triboelectric nanogenerator. Scientists have explored TENGS as one way to gain energy from the natural world, including harvesting energy from effects on tabletops, falling rain-even keyboards. The new TENG for forest use produces a current (电流) when a tree branch swings. That current is small, yet enough to power a thermometer (温度计) to monitor the temperature changes signaling fire.
Cao says his team's new model has not yet been tested over long time periods in the real world, but the device is ready. All he needs now is the money to build more of them.
A school in the UK is giving boys lessons in zumba and ballet to encourage the idea that PE is gender neutral (不分性别的). Steve Frenzel, a school officer, says that boys should be offered different activities in sport including dance. They should see dance as something they can enjoy just as much as girls.
However, giving boys more choices will not solve the problem of girls' disengagement (不参与) with sport, since for years, girls have been kept from playing sport like football and cricket.
A research done by Women in Sport showed that girls begin to lose interest in sport when they are as young as six. “At around the age of six or seven girls start to drop out of sport. What is interesting is that this is the same time that boys start doing more,” said Ruth Holdaway, the chief executive of Women in Sport. “What seems to be happening is up until that age, boys and girls feel the same—they just run around, they don't think about what they are doing, they will explore, they will climb.”
Teachers should not make any assumptions (假定) about which sport girls or boys would like to play. Often teachers will be surprised if they ask girls what they want. There will be an assumption that they want to do dance and many of them will, but they might also want to play football or cricket.
Other steps schools can take to encourage girls to play sport could include making adaptations (适应性变化) to changing rooms.
Girls may think, “If I am going to get hot and sweaty, I need to put my hair up, I need to take it back down, and if I don't have a mirror, I can't do that.”
Small changes like allowing girls more time in the changing rooms, and putting up mirrors, may encourage them to run around and get hot and sweaty during PE lessons.
Developing teamwork may seem to be a tough task — one that is filled with heartaches, headaches and sleepless hours. That is, if you have people in the organization who are so individualistic that they can't work with each other, that might be harmful to the overall performance of the organization.
If you are a leader in the organization and you want to develop teamwork, you need to have a good understanding of your people. Spend time with them. Talk to them. You will also discover what makes them come alive. That is very important if you wish to win them over and develop good teamwork.
When you understand the people in your organization, you also understand their motivation and their situation. You would also know the best leadership style to use with any person in your organization. Developing teamwork requires participation of both leaders and employees. It is a two-way street. That way, there will be better harmony in the organization. When that is done, the employees can simply come together, talk together and pursue the goals of the organization.
Rewards should be offered to the effective teams in the organization. Most people understand rewards. Punishment will only worsen things and bring down morale (士气) of the people in the organization. Of course, there will be time when punishment is necessary and called for. But rewards are far better at increasing productivity and developing teamwork.
A. Rewards should be used more than punishment.
B. Effective teamwork depends on a lot on the team leaders.
C. That is why developing teamwork is very important in any organization.
D. This way, you will come to understand what they care for individually.
E. The managers have to take the lead and the employees have to respond.
F. Thus, you have a pretty good view of how to bring them together as a group.
G. By doing so, each member of the team has the chance of performing better.
Hiking with some friends provided an opportunity to relax ourselves. Cold with a mixture of sun and snow1a quicker step on the mountain. On the way, we2a large troop of boy scouts and their families heading down as well. The majority of the troop was quickly well ahead and out of3.
Left behind were a boy and his mother who seemed uneasy. We slowed our4to talk with them before we 5passed them. They caught up again when my friend 6to tie her shoe. The boy at that moment fell down. My friend attempted to 7him as he rolled down the path.
Helped up, the boy was8, crying in his mother's arms. He said that his knee hurt and I could see the9spreading across the mother's face. I asked if I could help, with my friend explaining that I was a nurse. After a quick 10 I could tell that more than anything he was 11,his mom as well.12he stayed sitting, wrapped in his non's arms. The New England autumn had left the path 18with beautiful slippery leaves. So we went slowly, ensuring19footsteps. I realized that I was being gifted with more time to take in the20of the woods, conversation with friends and connections.
Positive thinking does not mean you have to find every idea absolutely wonderful. It does mean you have to be ready to explore idea and to try and bring out whatever good features it has. The next step might be to find the (weak) in the idea and to try and strengthen them, rather than use them (simple) as an excuse for rejecting the whole idea. Finally, after the idea has been explored, it may not (use), because there is a (good) one or because, it is good but not (suit). There is nothing wrong with being positive about an idea at first and then rejecting it (late), when you see that it won't work.
is easy to be negative and critical and too much talent is wasted in negative thinking. It is time that we (show) less respect for this kind of destructive thinking and focused positive thinking more. So remember to think positively.

The New Kid in Class
At the beginning of the new term, every student came to school happily. One day, Jack-son, a friendly student, sat at his school desk and looked over at the new kid in class. His name was Billy, who just moved here from Florida. His first day in class was yesterday and, so far, Jackson had not talked to him. Today, at rest, Jackson was going to try to make a new friend.
When the bell rang for a rest, Jackson hurried out of his seat and followed Billy outside.
"Hi Billy," Jackson said with a smile as they walked outside. "Do you want to play basketball?"
"No. I'm not very good at basketball. "
"Do you want to play kickball?" Jackson asked again.
"No. I'm not good at that either," Billy said. Billy walked away from Jackson and sat on a big flat rock in the grassy part of the school yard.
Jackson stood there and wondered what to do next. He asked Billy to do two things and both times Billy said no. He felt a little depressed. Maybe Billy didn't like to get along with Jackson. Maybe he didn't want to be friends. Jackson thought about playing basketball with the other kids. He looked over at Billy sitting on the rock all by himself. It must be hard to move to a new school, Jackson thought. He decided to give it one more try and let him be his friend. What would be a better one? He paced backwards and forwards nervously.
It was at that time that Jackson reached into his pocket and pulled out two toy cars that his brother gave him before. His brother has tons of cars and always gives him his old ones. It was the two cars that made him give it one more try.
