I'm Joe. I catch the Green Bus to school on weekdays. I really like it because I meet lots of friends there and we have a good time.
Every morning, I catch the bus at 7: 25 a.m. and I usually arrive at school at about 8:00 a.m. It is a great service(服务)because we can get short messages if the bus is late and the bus driver always tells us why.
On the bus, we can use the Internet to play games. If I really want to, I can do my homework on the bus.
I think it is good for the environment because one bus carries lots of children. If we are all in our parents' cars, there will be more pollution(污染).
It is also safe. The bus only goes to some schools. And the drivers are great. Alan and Graham are on the bus and they always look after us.
It seems that traveling is very important in modern(现代的)life. The fastest way of traveling is by plane. You can travel by plane one day to a place that it to OK a month or more to get to a hundred years ago.
Traveling by train is not so fast as traveling by plane. But it has its advantages. You can enjoy the scenery(风景) on your way. Modern trains have great seats and dining cars.
Some people like to travel by sea sometimes. There are liners or large river boats. You can visit many other countries and different parts of your country on them. Ships are not so fast as trains or planes, but traveling by sea is a very pleasant way to spend a holiday.
Many people like to travel by car. You can make your own timetable(时间表). You can travel three or four hundred miles or only fifty or one hundred miles a day. Just as you like. You can stop wherever you wish—at a place where there is something interesting to see, at a good restaurant where you can enjoy a good meal, or at a hotel to spend the night. That is why traveling by car is popular for pleasant trips, while people usually take a train or plane when they are traveling on business.
Kacey Tucker is a 17yearold girl. Her dad works in Saudi Arabia,
so she and her family live there. Kacey usually rides her horse (马) to
school.
"I have two horses there, Jacob and Donald," she says. "My sister, Melissa, rides them now. "
Kacey finishes all her middle school classes. She wants to go to a university (大学) in America. "I want to ride a horse to my school in America," says Kacey. "And my cousin's university has a really clean and big barn (畜棚). " So Kacey joins her cousin's university. Kacey's cousin Amy is 18 years old.
Kacey buys a horse in America. His name is Winston, and Kacey takes the horse to the university. She can ride the horse after school every day.
Dear James,
How are you? I want to tell you about the ways (方式) my family go to work or school. My parents are teachers, but they are not in the same school. My father's school is far from our home. It's about five kilometers. He drives his car to school every day. My mother usually walks to her school, because her school is near our home. I have two brothers, John and Peter. John is a high school student (高中生). He likes taking a bus to school. He thinks it is fun, because he can meet his friends and tall with them on the bus. It takes him thirty minutes to get to school. Peter and I are students in a middle school. My mother is in the school, too. I always go to school with Peter. We ride our bikes to school for ten minutes every school day.
What about you? How do you get to school?
Yours,
Amy
On a small farm(农场), there is no school. A bus is the school. The driver of the bus is the teacher. It's a school bus, but it doesn't take the children to school. It just goes round from place to place, and sometimes it comes to this farm. The bus will stay here for three months. Every time when the bus comes, the farmers will come, running to it, shouting(喊) and laughing(笑). They warmly welcome the school bus.
When the bus is on the farm, in the morning, the teacher teaches the small children. In the afternoon, the bigger children come to have their lessons because they must work in the morning. At night, the fathers and mothers come to school. They want to learn, too. And the farmers hope (希望) that they can have a real school on their farm.
Nowadays, it's easy for most students in the city to get to school. They can take the subway or ride bikes. And many schools have the school buses. And the roads in the city are wide and clean. But do you know how the students in a village in Sichuan get to school? They have to pass two mountains (山) to get to school. The road is narrow and muddy. It's dangerous to walk on the mountain slope.
Mr.Lee is the only teacher in the village. He goes to school with some of his students. He loves all his students and the students love him, too. He tries his best to teach the students well. He also wants a better road one day. It is his dream.
Alice is an American school girl. She is now in Beijing with her parents. She doesn't know Chinese, but she is trying to study and speak it. She often tries to speak Chinese to her Chinese friends. Sometimes they don't understand her, because she can't speak Chinese well.
It's Saturday morning. Alice goes out. She is going to see the flowers show. But she doesn't know how to get there. She asks an old Chinese man. The old man doesn't understand her. Then she takes out a pen and some paper. She draws flowers on it and then gives the picture to the old man, companying with a body gesture (肢体动作). The old man smiles and shows her the right way to the flowers show. Finally, she walks for about 15 minutes and gets to the flowers show. The flowers are so beautiful that Alice likes them very much. And she also buys one bunch of flowers for her mother and two cards for her father.

I work in a bank from Monday to Friday. My house is near a park and is about ten kilometers from my office. I usually go to work by train. I usually get up at 6:30 a. m. and take the train at 7 a. m. It usually takes me about thirty minutes to get to my office. The train is quick and cheap. I am never late for work.

I am a student. My house is near a beautiful lake. My school is across from the lake. I can walk to school across a bridge. It takes me about thirty minutes. But I often go to school by boat, because it is more fun. It takes me about twenty minutes.
Nancy
I am a waiter. I work in a restaurant from Monday to Saturday. I often go to work by bus. It is about five kilometers from my house to the restaurant. It takes me about twenty-five minutes to go to work. Sometimes I am late for work because the traffic is very busy.
Most people like bikes. Perhaps you ride a bike to school. Riding a bike can be of great fun. Do you know how to ride a bike safely?
Careful boys and girls learn to ride their bikes well before they go out on the road. How can you tell whether(是否) you are a good rider?
If you can ride a bike in a straight line, you can ride well. If you can't, you should practice riding in a safe(安全的) place.
To be safe on a bike, you need to use both(两个) hands and both feet. Keep your feet on the pedals(踏板) at all times and your hands on the handle bars(扶手).
You know that your bike is only for one person. It's not safe to carry anyone with you.
Keep yourself safe when you ride a bike. Watch where you are going all the time.
