Something that I learnt from both my parents was the importance of having respect(尊重)for other people. I remember one day when we were travelling on a bus and 1 sat down while other people were standing. My mother shouted at me, " 2 immediately(立刻) ! You have young legs and you don't need to sit down. "At the time I felt embarrassed about being told of 3 , but now I understand. I think children nowadays have 4 that respect and it really makes me angry if I see children sitting down while 5 people are standing.
One area in which we had a lot of rules was table 6 . For example, we weren't allowed to start our meal 7 the oldest person had started. We had to say "thank you" when our food was 8 , and eat everything on our plates before we could 9 the table. We couldn't make any noise when eating. Worse than that, we were only 10 to have sweets at the weekend, as a special 11 if we had been good.
Although my upbringing (养育)was perhaps a bit 12 compared with modern children, I'm very thankful to my parents for giving me a clear13 in life. Even though I was sometimes14 , I think it has made me a better person. In my opinion, children need clear rules, but more than that they need to learn how to get on with 15 people and realize they are not the center of the world.
High-tech pollution protection
Technology company Dyson has created headphones with a visor(面罩)to help people avoid polluted air. Called the Dyson Zone, it connects noise-canceling headphones with a visor that sits just in front of the nose and mouth, providing users with cleaned air. The product is designed (设 计) to fight against air and sound pollution.
Two-wheeled solution
On March 15, the UN General Assembly (联合国大会) passed a resolution supporting bicycles as a tool for dealing with climate (气 候)change. It calls on member countries to add bicycles to public transportation and encourages them to focus on bicycle-sharing services. The UN said transportation is the third-largest source of carbon dioxide(CO₂), a greenhouse gas that causes global warning. Choosing a bike over a car just once a day can reduce (减 少) a person's transportation carbon emissions (排放)by 67 percent, according to a University of Oxford study.
Planting forests for the future
China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration brought out a report on March 11, showing China's land-greening progress in 2021. According to the report, 3 million hectares (公顷) of Chinese grassland were improved through grass planting, and 23, 900 hectares of farmland were changed into grassland. As much as 1. 44 million hectares of land were saved from becoming desert.
I usually took a bus to school. I found that most passengers were silent and never had a conversation with anyone else.
About a year ago, an old man got on the bus and said loudly to the driver, "Good morning!" Most people looked up, wondering why, and the bus driver didn't take it seriously and just replied in a cold voice, "Mm-hmm" . The next day the man got on and again he said in a loud voice, "Good morning!"to the driver. Another "Mm-hmm" . The driver told the man that he was Sam.
That was the first time any of us had heard the driver's name and soon people began to talk to each other and say hello to Sam and Benny. Soon Benny spread his happy "Good morning!"to the whole bus. Within a few days, his "Good morning!" was returned by a lot of "Good mornings!" and the whole bus seemed to be friendlier. People got to know each other.

Then suddenly, Benny stopped showing up. Everyone began to ask about Benny, wondering what happened to him. No one knew what to do and the bus got quiet again. So, last week, I started to act like Benny and say "Good morning!"to everyone and the whole bus cheered up again, Hopefully, Benny could come back to see his "Good morning!"mattered a lot.
Sometimes we see some strangers so many times that we know their faces well, but we never say hello to them. By saying hello, friendship starts to grow, and sunshine comes to the world around us, and love spreads over the community we are in. Why not start a " hello" today?

To stress the importance of hardworking spirit education among students of different ages, the Chinese government released (发布)a guideline. The guideline calls for students to respect (尊重) work. Students should learn basic life skills and form good working habits through such education.

According to a study of nearly 3, 000 students that was done by Ningbo Evening News in March, only 22 percent of primary and middle school students help with everyday chores around the house.
Schools and families play an important role in teaching students about the value of working hard, the guideline says. Primary and middle schools should provide students with hardworking spirit classes every week, according to the guideline. Schools can also hold activities to give students real-world work experience. For example, schools can teach children how to plant trees on Tree-planting Day.
As children's first teachers, parents should also encourage children to learn how to do chores at home. Students should master one or two life skills every year. These skills can include cooking, washing their own clothes and tidying their rooms.

Wang and his wife lived in a village. After he retired from the army in the 1970s, Wang had a lot of free time. He started painting lovely animals and human figures (形 象)on the walls of his house for fun. Later, his neighbors asked him to paint their house, too. Wang's paint brought a second "life" to the boring single-story houses in the village.
In 1998, the village was to be pulled down because many villagers had left. In order to save it, Wang decided to paint every street in the village. The old man covered every paving stone, wall and door with joyful colors
In 2010, some university students happened to pass by the village. They were struck by Wang's cute and expressive artwork. These students then started the "Save Rainbow Village" campaign (运动) . This campaign was a success and the area was kept as an art park. Wang himself began to be known as "Grandpa Rainbow"
Now, Rainbow Village has become a famous travel spot(地点). It brought a positive feeling and a sense of togetherness to those who live in it. Grandpa Rainbow, now 98 years old, and his wife are still living there. Supposedly he wakes up every morning at 4 a. m. to work on maintaining(维护)his artwork. Visitors often meet him and he always gives the victory sign when posing for photos.
Xi'an celebrated the first-ever China Hanfu Day on April 18th. There were shows and traditional music concerts which were held by people wearing traditional Chinese clothing. . Then they put their favorite ones online for a Hanfu photo competition, which lasted until May 18th.
The purpose of China Hanfu Day is to encourage young Chinese to take pride in traditional clothing as well as Chinese culture. China Hanfu Day is on the third day of the third month of the Chinese lunar calendar. . In ancient China, this day was also known as Shangsi Festival.
Hanfu is the traditional clothing of Han people who lived in China before the Qing Dynasty. . Although it has changed greatly so far, some of its main characteristics(特点) remain. For example, there were two parts that overlap (交叠)on the front, which is called "jiao ling. " . These characteristics are even introduced into the latest clothing trends called "China Chic"( 国 潮)
China is becoming a leading country in the world, and the young Chinese feel more confident about its traditional culture than ever before.

Last night one of my Chinese friends took me to a concert of Chinese folk music. The piece which was played on the erhu especially me. The music was strangely beautiful, but under the beauty I sensed a strong and pain. The piece had a simple name, Erquan Yingyue (Moon Reflected on Second Spring), but it was one of the most moving pieces of music that I've ever heard The erhu sounded so sad I almost cried along with it as I listened. Later I looked up the history of Erquan Yingyue, and I began to understand the sadness in the music.
The music was written by Abing, a folk musician was born in the city of Wuxi in 18 His mother died when he was very young. Abing's father taught him to play many musical instruments, such as the drums, diti and erhu, and by age 17, Abing was known for his musical ability. However, after his father died, Abing's life grew . He was very poor. Not only that, he developed a serious illness and became blind. For several years, he had no home.
He lived on the streets and played music to make money. Even after Abing got and had a home again, he continued to sing and play on the streets. He performed in this way for many years,
Abing's amazing musical skills made him very popular during his lifetime. By the end of his life, he could play over 600 pieces of music. Many of these were written by Abing . It is a pity that only six pieces of music in total were recorded for the future world to hear, his popularity continues to this day. Today, Abing's Erquan Yingyue is a piece which all the great erhu play and praise. It has become one of China's national treasures. Its sad beauty not only paints a picture of Abing's own life but also makes people their deepest wounds from their own sad or painful experiences.
