It's not often sunny in Paris, but people still love to walk along the banks of the Seine. They love the city's old buildings,(especial) Notre Dame Cathedral(巴黎圣母院). Unluckily, that view (go) since April 16th, 2019.
On April 16, a fire destroyed the 850-year-old cathedral, and two-thirds of the roof. The fire(shock) Parisians. People came together to the church,(sing) songs and praying (祈祷)for the hundreds of firefighters who fought the flames. "Notre Dame, not only to Catholics, to all Parisians means a lot," wrote by author, "It's a symbol of French culture and history." That's people felt sad. The church itself, after all, is a treasure. It was built in 1163 and after Notre Dame, churches in Europe were built (tall) and looked more beautiful. Though Notre Dame had a long history and many (treasure), Victor Hugo, a writer, made the church truly famous. His novel, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, presented the building to us. He wrote the book to remind people it, with hope they would work to protect the beautiful old buildings of Paris.
My partner Chris and I went traveling around the world for a year. In the end, we couldn't wait to spend 10 days enjoying world's largest rainforest, Amazon(亚马逊).
Of all, tours are (safe)way to visit the Amazon, and we did two. On the first tour, we (leave)from a small town to go through the forest. With a group of six (visit) we made our way in a small boat, wanting to see anacondas﹣big snakes!
Our second tour led us deeper into the rainforest by boat, jeep and foot. Both our guides lived in the Amazon their whole lives and they knew (clear) about the rainforest. While we were sleeping in a small wooden house with water around it, crocodiles (swim)around us.
We didn't finish out our tours we got the chance to visit the people in the middle of the forest. We were (surprise)to learn how the local people live off the land.
Ever then, we have been fans of the wildlife of Amazon!
Every year thousands of young people in England finish school and then take a year off before they start work or go to university. Some young people go to other countries and work volunteers. These young people are glad to give (they) time to help people without pay. For example, they work in schools or hospitals, or they do something (help) for the environment.

My family have lived in Paris for nearly a year. We (move) here last year because my father found a job in Paris. So my sister and I had chance to visit many cities in England, Germany, France, and other (country) in Europe. We enjoyed (we) a lot. We've visited many places. example, in England we visited the Buckingham Palace. In Paris, we visited the famous Eiffel Tower. Many people said it was one of (great) buildings they have ever seen. There are also many ancient buildings in Paris. So far, we (learn) a lot about history from them. there are many beautiful places to see in Europe, we miss China very much because my grandparents and friends are in China.
