One day, a teacher came into her classroom. She gave her students1small test. The teacher2out the test paper. The students were surprised3that there were no questions on the paper, but only a black dot (点) in the center of it. The teacher said, "I just want you to write down what you see on this paper."
The students did as the teacher said. At the end of the class, the teacher read their answers4. While the teacher5, the class was silent. "Each of you tried to describe the black dot—its size and its color on the paper, " she explained. "Ye t, I want you to think about something. All of you focused on (关注) the black dot on this test paper and wrote about it, 6no one wrote about the white area around the dot. "
"Imagine that this paper represents (代表) your life. The white area represents all of your life experiences, and the black dot just represents the bad things you7through since you were born. Life gives us many good things like the most exciting moment and8time in your life. And yet we focus too much on the problems and difficulties. "

There was once a painter. His1 was to paint the most beautiful painting in the world. Day and night he painted his paintings very2to make sure that there was no flaw(瑕疵) in them. He painted many pictures, but every time, he would3the paintings that he thought were less than perfect.
At the same time, another painter who worked in the same place also painted many paintings. He tried his best to paint and4threw away his paintings. The first painter would sometimes walk by, looking at the second painter's finished works, and laughed at them. "No one will ever5these paintings. They are worthless!" he would say. The second painter would always answer, "We'll see." And in time, the second painter sold almost all of his works. People were6with them, even if they were less than perfect.
The first painter never achieved what he wanted and finally7 his dream of perfection. He went home, poor, having never sold any of his paintings.
There is a saying—"Practice makes perfect." It is used to say that people can become better at something if they do it often. For example, if you want to be a good8, you should write every day. But in fact, this saying is not always9. No one is perfect, and looking for perfection often ends in10. But if we simply do our best and work hard, we can possibly succeed in life.

Zhang Li, a 12-year-old boy from Sichuan, used to be lazy. He rarely did any housework. But now, things have changed. Washing dishes, cooking and making the bed…all of these have become part of his daily life.
This big change is the result of a new program at his school. Starting from last term, his school has made housework part of the students' homework in order to improve their life skills.
At the beginning of each month, every student gets a list of housework to do every weekend. Their parents help keep an eye on their performance. They can do housework, such as cleaning out closets, washing cups and cooking food. On holidays like Mother's Day, students are asked to prepare gifts for their mothers.
Wang Dan, 13, has learned several life skills through the program, including cooking. "I used to be afraid of fire," she said. But she tried to overcome (克服) her fear and complete her cooking tasks.
At the same time, she also learned how tired her mother is after doing housework every day. On Mother's Day, she made a cake for her mother to show her thanks. "I've begun to better understand my parents and want to help them more, "she said.
Other schools in Sichuan are also developing programs to teach their students life skills. On May 2, another middle school held a life skill competition. Students had to complete many tasks, including cooking and folding clothes. They showed their skills and proved (证明) that they are growing up.
