Some experts believe that cars will unavoidably be eliminated. They see a day in the not-too-distant future when all cars will be abandoned and allowed to rust(生锈). Other authorities, however, think the car is here to stay. They hold that the car will remain a leading means of urban travel in the predictable future.
The car will undoubtedly change significantly over the next 30 years. It should become smaller, safer, and more economical, and should not be powered by the gasoline engine. The car of the future should be far more pollution-free than present types.
Regardless of its power source, the auto in the future will still be the main problem in urban traffic jams. One proposed solution to this problem is the automated highway system. When the auto enters the highway system, a retractable (伸缩自如的) arm will drop from the auto and make contact with a rail, which is similar to those powering subway trains electrically.
Once attached to the rail, the car will become electrically powered by the system, and control of the vehicle will pass to a central computer. The computer will then monitor all of the car's movements.
The driver will use a telephone to enter instructions about his destination into the system. The computer will work out the best route, and reserve space for the car all the way to the correct exit on the highway. The driver will then be free to relax and wait for the buzzer(蜂鸣器) that will warn him of his coming exit. It is predicated that an automated highway will be able to deal with 10, 000 vehicles per hour, compared with the 1, 500 to 2, 000 vehicles that can be carried by a present-day highway.
People have always wanted to know what the future will look like. Then, how can we?
The world has changed a lot in the last 150 years, but we humans are driven by the same basic needs as we were 150 years ago, such as food, sleep, the feeling of being appreciated and loved. No. In addition, generally speaking, the inventions in the last 150 years have been a human effort for freedom (自由) and communication. Since there is still much to do in this area, this will be the focus at least for the next 150 years.
But why do we need to predict the future? Predicting the future is important for two reasons: First, we need to start to think about what kind of future we would like for ourselves and to pass on to the next generation.
How about the virtual worlds? It might be that in the future people can feel the sand between their toes, and hear the waves, just lying in the bed at home. So, even if a great invention is therefor an affordable price, it' ll never take the place of the common experience if it is not real.
What we'll see in the next 50 years is the transition from an oil-dependent society to a new society. Here there'll be new medicine, continued exploration of space, challenges in the climate change, and new inventions that make life a little easier.
A. So what will the future look like then?
B. Will this change in the next 150 years?
C. Predicting the future can help us in many ways.
D. However, you'll get the feeling of being there.
E. Well, to understand the future, you must know the past.
F. However, no matter how real the experience is, it doesn't happen for real.
G. Then we need to know what decisions we need to make today will give the best result in the future.
Once upon a time, there was a man who believed he could see the future through the stars. He called himself an astrologer (占星家) and got used to1at the sky all night. He was always busy worrying about the future. The villagers often came to him,2to know what their future would be like.
One evening he was walking on the main road outside the village. His eyes were focused on the stars. He was so 3in thinking about the future. When he looked up at the stars, he walked without looking down. Suddenly he 4a ditch full of mud and water.
He was 5 in the muddy water, and 6 trying to claw at the slippery sides of the hole in his effort to climb out. Being 7 to crawl (爬行) out and fearing for his 8, he started to scream for help and his 9 soon brought the villagers running towards him.
As they pulled him out of the mud, one of them said, "You 10to read the future through the stars, and yet you 11 to see what is at your feet! This may teach you to pay more attention to what is right in front of you, and let the future 12 itself."
We all desire a 13and happy future. However, the time doesn't stop for anyone. There is always a tomorrow to look forward to and 14, but you can't go back to yesterday. So, maintain your 15 life while you work for a better tomorrow.

It (forecast) that in the not-too-distant future, we will be living in smart homes that will keep us (security), save us energy, and provide a more comfortable environment.
In the future homes, we will be using advanced technology every day for automatic control of about everything. And all controls will respond voice commands. In addition, our smart homes can monitor our health every day. For example, our bed will record well we sleep every night. If we have sleep or weight problems, it will send a (warn) to our phone. Smart toilets can (potential) save our life because they can warn us early on if there is something abnormal or if we have a critical illness. The future homes are also capable of (detect) the potential danger. If a water pipe (leak) or there is a short in the electrical wiring, the homes will provide us with information. This smart technology is not fantasy. Many of these new (innovation) are already available and being used in some homes. Nevertheless, it still takes some years before most new homes begin to use this new technology.
Over the past 50 years, robots (become) a normal part of our everyday lives. They build cars in factories, clean up dirt in the house and deal with bombs in war zones. However, some (invent) are trying to create a future where robots not only do our boring and dangerous jobs but also become part of our families.
A Japanese Yobotics company introduced LOVOT, robot that weighs as much as a baby and looks like a mix between a penguin a bear. Though LOVOT cannot build a car, it can build a relationship with its owner and provide love and companionship. In fact, LOVOT is just one of the (late) robots meant to help those who feel lonely.
Robots like LOVOT are being developed at the perfect time. Many countries have "aging societies" with the populations of old people (outweigh) young people, resulting in more people who need not only assistance with things like getting (dress) and cooking meals but also friendship and love. Additionally, it is predicted around 40 percent of Japanese will be living alone by 2040, meaning loneliness among younger populations may also increase (significant). However, if LOVOT can give us all the affection we get pets without any of the mess or regular care, we might not be so lonely after all.
