Dear Wendy, I'm happy that you like English. Learning to speak English can be difficult, but don't give up! First, you 3 speak a little English every day. The best way to learn any new language is just to speak it. Don't be4 . Don't be afraid to make5 . People can only6 them when they hear you make them. So start speaking English today. You can practise 7 starting simple conversations about food or your favourite sport. You'll be amazed at how 8 your spoken English improves. Second, work on your pronunciation. I 9 you to learn how native English speakers speak the words and try to copy (模仿)them. Carrying an English 10 with you to look up new words can also help. I hope you can speak excellent English. "You're right," said Tina. "Bella and I 10 stop speaking Japanese during English class."
Soon Sara became friends with the two girls.

Almost everybody has a hobby (爱好). My hobby is keeping a diary in English.
When I was nine years old, I began to have my hobby. At first it seemed (似乎) hard for me, but now it is easy. I know it's possible to learn English well. After school I often go to the school library to read English stories or articles (文章). Sometimes my English teacher introduces some interesting things to me. I collect information (收集信息) for my diary by doing these.
After I finish my diary every day, I always try to correct mistakes with the help of the dictionary. Now my English is very good.
I love my hobby. It helps me to learn English better.
I was able to write and read in English, but I couldn't speak English well when I was travelling to Englishspeaking countries. It was also very difficult for me to understand the natives (本地人). Things have changed after I joined the ACC (Advanced Conversation Club).
For a long time, I tried to learn English in different schools and in different ways, but it didn't work well. I'm a doctor and I am busy with my work, so I don't always have free time for studying. Joining the ACC is perfect for me because I can listen to the lessons anywhere and anytime. For example, every day it takes me about one hour to go to work or to go home. When I am in the car, I'm always listening to the ACC lessons. By doing it, I improve my English day by day.
After three years' study, I can understand 80%-90% of a movie without reading subtitles (字幕). Last year I was in New York City and I could talk to the natives with perfect English. Once, at a bus station, an American told me, "Your English is good. You could live here without problems. " Of course, I was very happy when hearing the words.
Do you like telling jokes in your English study? Jokes can make your words colourful and interesting. If you make people laugh, you can know that people are interested in your topic.
In order to get jokes, you can watch comedies or talk shows on TV. When you hear David Letterman's jokes in his programme, you'd better write them down. Then you can have more jokes to tell when you talk with others. If your English is good enough, you can also write your own jokes to tell at a party or to break the ice before a speech.
How to make your jokes more interesting? Not all the English words sound funny. Some English words sound funny by themselves, while others can get a laugh only in phrases and sentences. You have to choose. Different people may have different feelings on a joke. So don't be sad if others don't laugh after you tell a joke. After all, telling English jokes is just a way to help you with your English study.
One evening I visited the English corner of our town. It is near our school. There are trees, flowers and a piece of small ground. Every evening, large numbers of people go there to improve their English.
When I arrived there, many people had already been there. I looked around and found that most of them were students. Some of them were talking in English in twos and threes. To my great surprise, I even found three foreigners talking with some students who were listening with great interest. Just then, a tall student came towards me and asked, "Shall we have a talk in English?" My heart beat very fast at that moment because it was the first time that I had visited the English corner. Anyway, I said, "Yes." Soon we talked freely about our studies, our lives, our hobbies as well as our problems of learning English. Time went fast, and it was already 11 o'clock before I realised it.
I had a good time there and was glad to learn a lot at the English corner. I understood the proverb(谚语)better, "Practice makes perfect. "
I'm Michael. I live in Poland and Polish is my native language (母语), but I speak English very well. How did I learn English? I'd like to share something with you.
When I was six, my dad advised me to listen to The Beatles. I listened to them every day for the next seven years. At first, I could understand nothing of what they were singing. But soon I started to understand more words.
The next year, I got a book with the words of all the songs. I learned many songs. And I understood a little of the meaning. Learning English well became my dream because I wanted to understand The Beatles.
When I was 13 years old, I started reading English science fiction (小说). At first, I could not understand those books because I did not know English so well. I thought the books in English must be interesting and exciting, so I learned every new English word carefully. In that way, I improved my reading.
When I read English, I have a lot of fun. I also find it so useful in my work. And I'm trying to help others learn English well.
