Last summer vacation, I decided to visit Wolong in Sichuan Province. Before I started, my mom reminded me to take care of myself again and again. Because it was my first time to travel alone, I felt really 1 at first.
Wolong is a large nature reserve (自然保护区), which includes several panda bases for breeding(繁殖)and research. I stayed at a small hotel next to Wolong Panda Centre 2 I arrived. I was going to visit the centre the next morning.
Everything went well at first the next day. I saw many 3 playing in the trees. They looked so cute. I was not nervous any more. I also tried to feed them 4 some bamboo. They were happy and even wanted to get close to me. Later, I left the center happily.
But while I was going back to the hotel, I lost my way. I was so worried that I 5 cried. At that moment, a 6 person came up to me and asked if I needed any 7 . Then he showed me the way and I arrived at the hotel in the end.
The trip to Wolong not only allowed me to learn about pandas in a 8 satisfying way, but also allowed me to meet friendly people. This 9 gives me the courage to travel alone again in the future. The world is warm and 10 I am more interested in travelling.
If you travel in New Zealand, you may find some very interesting things. They are called "Four Strange Things in New Zealand".
Have you ever seen that cows are lined up? New Zealand is so large. It is impossible for people to milk cows by hand. So the farmers trained the leading cow to take the cows to the milking station twice a day. The leading cow has a sensor(传感器)on its head. When it is time for milking, the sensor warns the leading cow to take the lead. |
Horses are mainly raised for viewing(观赏)and racing, so the coat color is very important. Wearing a special type of clothes can avoid the harm from the sun. The clothes on horses are filled with weights that are the same weight of the rider. When the weights are replaced by the rider during the race, "____", just like the sportsmen running with sandbags. |
Sheep in New Zealand used to have tails. Because they poop(排便)when they're born, grass flies are interested in them. Grass flies lay their eggs in the tails of the baby sheep, causing illness and death. Then people tie their tails. As time passes, the sheep become tailless. This improves the survival rate(成活率)of the sheep. |
New Zealand's alpacas(羊驼)were introduced from South America. They are quite different from twohumped camels (双峰驼). An alpaca weighs about 55 kg to 65 kg. It looks like a sheep. Only one grownup male(雄性)alpaca can be found in each group. It is the leading one. Alpacas are gentle, clever and human. |
What's the Silk Road? In history, it was an important international trade route(贸易路线)between China and the Mediterranean Sea(地中海). The Silk Road began in the Western Han Dynasty and has a history of more than 2, 000 years.
In the past, the road started in Chang'an(now Xi'an)and ended in Europe near the Mediterranean Sea. It was about 6, 500 kilometres long and went across 1/4 of the world.
The Silk Road got its name in the 19th century because Chinese silk was famous, and traders carried it to other places along this road. Traders also carried porcelain(瓷器) and other things to the West. And glass, gems(宝石) and food like carrots from the West came to China.
The Silk Road was very important to both China and the rest of the world. It was more than an international trade route. Lots of art and science of other countries came to China through the Silk Road. In this way, languages and cultures influenced each other.
Today, China is trying to make the dream of the Belt and Road come true.
