Mr. Black works on a farm. He and his wife grow a lot of 1 and they have some 2 . Every day they work 3 from morning 4 night. One day, Mr. Black says to his wife," Let's go to Portsmouth 5 Sunday. We can have a good lunch there and then we can go to the cinema." His wife is very 6 when she hears this because they always eat a lot, and she doesn't like 7 three 8 a day. Then they go to Portsmouth by train and walk to a restaurant, they have a good time there.
One morning, Mrs Black was going to do some shopping with her daughter, Mary. When they were walking in the street, Mrs Black was knocked down(撞倒) by a fast car and was quickly taken to a hospital.
The next day the driver came to the hospital to see her with a bunch of flowers. But Mrs Black was weak and could hardly(几乎不) speak, so her daughter went in and spoke quietly to her mother, "Mother, the young man who knocked you down is waiting outside. May he come in?" "Yes, " Mrs Black also spoke quietly, " If he is on foot."
A blind man took out a small blackboard and put it near him. There was a sentence on the blackboard. It said. "I'm blind. Please help me." Some people walked by and gave him some coins. When the coins touched the ground, they made a little noise. And the blind man nodded(点头) his head and said "Thank you." Then a young woman came up to him. She cleaned the words on the man's blackboard and wrote a new sentence. Guess what? Many people gave the blind man more coins. And the coins made much more noise. He had no time to nod his head and say thank you.
At last, the woman came back. She stood in front of the blind man without a word. The man knew it was her. He asked, "What did you write on my blackboard?" The woman smiled and said, "I did nothing, but just made your words beautiful." It said, "It's a beautiful world, but I can't see it!"
