My birthday was going to be extra special for two reasons. For one thing, like Commander Park said, "Nobody's ever turned nine 1 space before, David. "
Mum, my sister Rebekah, and I 2 to Mars for a year. So far we'd spent almost two weeks in the spaceship 3 would take us to the new home.
I was trying to keep 4 reason secret. 5 the day before my birthday, Rebekah caught me with my cheeks puffed way out(鼓起). "Are you doing some practice 6 out all the candles this year?" She laughed.
"This time I will," I said. "Everybody on the ship will be watching, so. . . "
"Oh, David," my sister said. "Your cake can't have candles. Everyone knows 7 dangerous fire on a spaceship is. "When I turned away, she put 8 hands on my shoulder. "At least you 9 worry about blowing them all out. "
"Yeah, 10 me not to tell Mum about this, okay? I don't want to trouble her. "Our mother has a difficult job, managing 11 ship's electrical system. Besides, most of the people on the ship are older than I am, with hard work to do. 12 I only asked everything to go my way, it might bring a lot of trouble to them.
After dinner on my birthday, Mum floated into the cafeteria, carrying my birthday cake. I was 13 ."Candles!" I shouted, staring at the shining on top of the cake. "I thought fire 14 on a spaceship. "
"Look 15 ," my mother said. The candles were really electrical lights, with tiny flame-shaped bulbs on top.

banking online, logging in WeChat and so on. And while it's simpler to use a short, easy-to-remember password, thiscan also cause serious risks to your online safety. To protect yourself and your information, you'll want to use passwords that are long, strong, and difficult for someone else to guess while still keeping them easy for you to remember.
A strong password is one that's easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. Let's take a look at some of the most important things to think when setting a password. First, never use personal information such as your name, birthday, user's name, or email address. This type of information is often publicly available (可获得的), which makes it easier for someone to guess your password. Second, use a longer password. Your passwords should be at least six characters long or even longer. Then, don't use the same password for each account (账户). If someone discovers your password for one account, all of your other accounts will be in danger.
You can try to use numbers, symbols, and both capital and small letters. You have to avoid using words that can be found in the dictionary. Like "swimming", it would be a weak password. So random (随机的) passwords are the strongest.
Instead of writing your passwords on paper like books or notebooks where someone might find them, you can use a password manager (a kind of App) to store them safely online. Password managers can remember and enter your password on different websites. That means you won't have to remember longer passwords. So it is a good and safe way to keep your passwords.
How do you feel when your teacher asks you to work on a group project with other students? Do you like to work together with others?
The Programmefor International Student Assessment (PISA) carried out a study of student's teamwork ability. They found that students who did well in tests by themselves were likely to be better at working with others. This finding was true for many countries. Students in Japan, South Korea, Finland and Canada got high scores in the tests and also did well in working together to solve problems.
But this was not the case for every country. Chinese students, who had high scores as well, showed just average ability to work in groups. "one reason might be that Chinese parents and students pay much attention to grades," said Zhao Zhongxin, a member of the Chinese Family Education Association. "Studentshave a lot of exam pressure and they see schools as places for competition. " However, collaborative skills are very important for preparing students for today's society," he added. "Luckily, more Chinese parents and teachers have thinking of ways to help students honethem. "
Another interesting finding from the study was that girls can be better than boys at working together. They said girls show more positive attitudes towards relationships, which means they are happier to listen to others' opinions. This makes them feel more comfortable working together with others in groups.
PISA also found the classroom environment can influence how well students work together. In classes, if there are a lot of activities that require communication like class discussions, students might have better attitude towards working together.

I was super excited to try this bread recipe, but the process was a bit challenging. The end result was good though. It might be more helpful if it is made into a video. |

Reading an English newspaper is a good way to improve a student's language ability. As there are many useful and common words in an English newspaper, it may help students increase their vocabulary as well as improve their reading skills. But what is the proper way to read an English newspaper? Do students need to look over all the content of the newspaper?

Secondly, read newspapers every day. Remember words through context, in which these words may appear repeatedly. Don't look up every unknown word in your dictionary. You can try to guess the meaning between sentences. Keep reading, and you will become familiar with the words after reading them several times in different texts.
It can not only help us know what is happening in the world but also improve our language.
A. There is no need to go through all the articles.
B. Once they appear several times, you will remember them easily.
C. They can learn new knowledge from newspapers.
D. Reading English newspapers makes us knowledgeable.
E. If your guess is wrong, don't give up.
