If someone asks you, "What color is the sky?" I think you will answer "blue". I'm afraid that you are wrong. The sky has no color. It looks blue because we are looking at the blue sunlight (阳光). It is shining(闪耀)on little bits of dust(灰尘)in the air.
Is the sky full of air? I'm sure that you have asked(已经问过)his question, too. We know that there is air all around the world, but we couldn't fly very high because as we go high, the air gets thinner(稀薄). If we go far enough away from the earth, we find there is no air.
Maybe we can answer some questions now. What is the sky? Where is it? It's all round the world. The sky is space(宇宙). In space there is nothing, but only the sun, the moon, the earth and all the stars.
There are many stories and poems about the Moon in Chinese history. And nowadays scientists send spaceships to the Moon. Why? Because people are always interested in the Moon and want to know more about it. Here is some information (信息) about it. Let's see it together.
The Moon looks beautiful and bright at night. It is far away from the Earth and if you want to get to the Moon, it will take you about 6 months to get there by car at 95km per hour.
There is no gravity on the Moon, so people can enjoy floating there. If you weigh (有……重) 68kg on Earth, you will weigh only 11kg on the Moon.
There are many interesting places such as craters (陨石坑), mountains, and lava plains (熔岩平原) on the Moon. There is no air on the Moon, so people can't breathe on it.
On Earth, the day is usually warm and the night is cool. And there are four different seasons in a year. But on the Moon, the temperature is very high during the day and very low at night. And a foil day on the Moon, from the sunrise to the next, lasts about 29.5 Earth days on average (平均).
The Moon doesn't have its own light. It looks bright because it can reflect (反射) light from the Sun. When the Moon moves around the Earth, it gets different light from the Sun. So we find its size often changes.

Dear David,
Thank you for your letter. I am glad to know that everything is going well with you. Thanks also for the photos. Linda looks heal taller and taller than before.
It is very hot here now, but it sometimes rains. We love the rain very much. We are enjoying our stay here. I am now studying in a bigger school. There are more teachers and students in this school than in my school in England. My teachers and classmates are all very kind to me.
Time goes so quickly. I am having new experience all the time. It is difficult to learn Chinese, but I am making progress with the help of my teachers and classmates.
Summer holiday is coming. Here in Jinan summer holiday usually lasts about two months. So I'll be free for over sixty days. I hope you and Linda can come to Jinan for a visit. Then I can show you around the famous "Spring City" in China.
Love to you and Linda.
Yours Mike
I love collecting old paving bricks very much.It is my favourite hobby. I started it last year when I needed to help our teacher to hold a fair display(展览)for our school. A few years earlier, I read an article about paving bricks in a fashion magazine.I found it was very interesting, so I decided to do the display on the bricks. But we didn't have so many bricks for a good display. Then I decided to go out and look for them.
Now I have collected hundreds of bricks. Most of them are from Ohio. Actually, there are more than one thousand different kinds of bricks in Ohio.Sometimes, I bought some old but special bricks on the Internet. The price is from 5 to 10 dollars for one brick.
Sometimes, some people can't understand why I buy bricks. I must say that it's my favourite hobby. And I will like collecting old paving bricks forever.
