Both people and insects are animals. But insects don't have bones in their bodies. They have hard shells. Insects are different from other animals because they have six legs. Many insects have wings. Some insects live alone. Others live in big groups. Bees and ants live in groups. They live in big families and they have many different rooms in their nests. Insects live in dry places just about everywhere. In hot places, insects are everywhere you see. A few insects, but not too many live in oceans. In very cold places, like the North Pole(北极), they live in the fur(皮毛) of polar bears(北极熊) and other warm animals. Quite a lot of insects live in small rivers and lakes.
The wind and the sun
The wind and the sun are arguing (争吵) about who is stronger. They see a man walking down the road. "I'm stronger! Because I can make the man take off his jacket," says the wind. "Oh, Really? Please show me," says the sun. Then he goes behind a cloud. The wind starts blowing as hard as he can over the man. The harder the wind blows, the tighter (更紧地) the man holds his jacket. The wind gives up. Then, the sun begins to shine over the man. Soon, the man feels too hot to keep walking. Finally, he takes off his coat and it is up on the tree!
It is cold and dry outside. The wind often blows strongly. The days are shorter and the nights are longer. Many animals often hibernate (冬眠). They will sleep for a long time until the spring comes. People don't like to go outside. They have to wear heavy coats, scarves and gloves. Children like to be outside because it often snows. There is snow around. There is ice on the ground. Children can throw snowballs and make the snowmen. Oh, look. What a surprise (惊喜)! Do you see? The river is frozen (结冰)! Here come the boys, there come the girls, and they are skating on the ice.
