It had been cold and snowy two5 ago but warm and rainy yesterday. I didn't6 the weather report for today. Finally I decided to choose my light jacket, and took my bigger dog Fluffy to7 first.
I opened the door and went outside. Instantly (立即) I knew I had made the 8 choice. Each breath I exhaled (呼气) was freezing cold. The grass was covered in frost (霜) and I tried to keep my balance (平衡) while Fluff 9 me. I shivered (哆嗦) but then I turned my head 10 to the sky. It had warmed my heart on the coldest days and lighted my spirit (精神) on the darkest14 . I stood here and thanked15 for creating the moon, the stars and me. Our lives here are full of sweet seasons as well. Enjoy and make each day of them a creation of your love.
Amy was looking for a gift for her little daughter. Suddenly she stopped before a store of dolls(洋娃娃). "Girls like dolls, "she thought as she went into it. Looking around, she saw a grandma doll with gray hair and a pair of glasses. In her mind appeared(出现)Joyce, her mother.
When Amy was a little girl, she got her first doll from Joyce for her birthday. Then the second, the third... A doll a year never arrived late.
"Why always a doll?" This question had been in Amy's mind until her father gave the answer one day.
Little Joyce dreamed to have a doll. Her parents promised(承诺)one for her fifth birthday. Sadly, they both died in a traffic accident(交通事故)before it arrived. The never-received gift was the most precious(珍贵的)in her eyes. Her mother's story being recalled(回想起), Amy got an idea.
It was Joyce's birthday. Amy sent a package(包裹)to her with a card that read:
Dear Joyce,
I forgot to send you the package that you should have received on May 20, 1956, your fifth birthday. The gift inside has turned old, but I felt that you might still wish to have it.
Love, Angel of Joy
Joyce opened the package and saw a lovely grandma doll. She clasped(抱紧)the doll that she had waited for so many years, crying softly. The doll, given by "Angel of Joy", made her the happiest "child" in the world.
a. Joyce got a doll on her birthday. b. Joyce wanted to have a doll.
c. Joyce bought the first doll for Amy. d. Joyce lost both her father and mother.
We are always using body language in our daily life. When we talk with each other, we may use body language. For example, in the USA, a person points to his or her head when he thinks someone is clever. However, human beings are not the only ones who use body language. Animals also use body language to tell each other how they feel and what they think. When a dog is happy, its ears will stand up, and its eyes will be widely open. When it is angry, it will look straight at you. If an elephant spreads its ears, it means "Watch out". To show friendship, elephants will touch each other with their trunks (象鼻). Dolphins (海豚) live in groups and like to show each other their feelings. An angry dolphin will sometimes slap (拍打) its tail on the water. A happy dolphin will play with its friends, making small jumps into the water.
The baby is taking photos with his parents, the Duke and Duchess (公爵和公爵夫人) of Cambridge. The pictures were taken by the duchess' father, Michael Middleton, in the garden of their family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire. Taken earlier this month, they show the royal ,couple, Prince George and their black cocker spaniel (西班牙猎犬), Lupo. Tilly, a golden dog, belonging to the Middleton family, can be seen lying down behind them. The photographs of Prince George, who was born on 22 July, were published by Kensington Palace.
On Monday Prince William, giving his first interview since becoming a father, told CNN:
"He either reminds me of my brother or me when I was younger, I'm not sure, but he*s doing very well at the moment."
BBC reporter Nicholas Witchell said the new family looks "unselfconscious (自然的), relaxed and happy - much like most couples might look with their first-born baby". He added: "Of course they're aware of what's expected of them. There will be staff - a nanny (保姆) to help in
due course (适时地), but for the moment it's all rather informal and many might think, refreshing."
Famous photographer Terry O'Neill said he thought the pictures were "absolutely charming".
"It reminded me when I first started photography for myself - I just went for the light, and it was really interesting lighting (打灯光). As a matter of fact when I heard about these pictures, I thought ‘Who have they got to do these pictures' - and the thought crossed my mind they might have asked the Queen because she's quite a good photographer."
The cultural and education manager of Magnum Photos, Fiona Rogers, told Radio 4's Today program the photograph of the couple and Prince George with the family's dogs was "technically not the most accomplished (技艺高超的) photograph".
"It's a photograph that any one of us could have in our family albums," she said.
