Many people think that if we spend more time, we can do more work. When the alarm clocks off in the morning, students have to get up and go to school. They almost spend all day studying and their homework. They all hope their grades.
Today's students usually have many. They love music, sports, reading and watching TV. A two-day weekend gives them time to do they like. However, they have to finish their homework. Now the is that in such a short time, students may do their homework carelessly. Too much homework makes students have relaxing themselves. A horse runs faster after a rest, but for students only rest is not. Few people the importance of that in the past. we should give students more time to enjoy themselves.
One day a poor farmer was taking a bag of rice to town. Suddenly the bag fell off his horse on the road. He didn't know what to do about it because it was too heavy for him to lift by himself. He only hoped that somebody would soon pass by and help him.
Just at this moment a man riding a horse came up to him. But the farmer was very disappointed (失望的) when he saw who he was. It was the great man living nearby. The farmer had hoped to ask another farmer or a poor man like him.
But to his surprise, the great man got off his horse as soon as he came near. He said to the farmer, "I see you need help, friend. How good it is that I'm here just at the right time. " Then he took one end of the bag, the farmer took the other. They together lifted and put it back on the horse.
"Sir," asked the farmer, "how can I pay you?"
"It's quite easy," the great man answered with a smile, "wherever you see anyone else in trouble, do the same for him. "
I have a twin sister. Her name is Tan Mei. On Sunday we went to a park together. Tan Mei left her coat on a chair while we were talking to some friends. When we went back to the chair, a girl in a yellow T-shirt was sitting there. She had some money in her hand. When she saw us, she stood up and walked away.
I was very surprised, so I asked my sister, "Did you have any money in your coat?"
She said, "Yes, Tan Rui, I did. "
Tan Mei looked in her coat, but her money was not there.
"That girl stole it!" I said, and we both ran after her. We caught her quickly.
We were very angry. My sister shouted, "Give me the money. " The girl gave the money to Tan Mei and ran away. We both ran after her, but we lost her.
So we were riley and went home at last. But before we could tell our parents, my mother said to Tan Mei, "You left your money at home. It's on the table in the sitting room. You must be more careful with money. "
So the girl in the yellow T-shirt was not a thief (小偷)! She probably thought we were thieves! We felt terrible.
We were very sorry for our mistake. We would like to say sorry to her and give the money back to her.
I'm in Boulder, Colorado and I am one of the luckiest ones without flood (洪水) coming into my house. But some of my friends' houses were in a mess after the flood. Today I went to a friend's house and helped her do some cleaning.
Some of her friends were helping her with the housework when I arrived in the morning. She asked me to move the broken things out of the room and clear the mud (泥) in the room. With another helper, I got busy cleaning the mud and broken things.
There was a desk in front of a door and a tall cactus (仙人掌) was on it. My friend asked us to be careful with that plant, because it was the only one that meant a lot to her. It was once her mother's. I thought if we could clean the tiles (瓷砖) under the cactus, it would make our friend feel better. So we moved the cactus and got the mud out from under it. Then I asked my helper to get some water to make it clean. It was a small job. And I thought it would be easy for her, since she worked so well.
When our friend came back, she was really moved by what we did for her mom's plant. She smiled and put her hand to her heart. To her, it was not one little space without mud, but something that warmed her heart.
