Dear Catherine,
I'm happy to hear that you and your family are visiting Hurghada this summer! It's a wonderful place for a holiday. There's a lot to do and many different places to go.
You can camp, stay in a hotel or in a youth hostel(青年旅舍). A youth hostel is very modern and comfortable, and much cheaper than a big hotel. You can find out information about them at the tourist(观光者) information center. You should go there as soon as you arrive in the city. It's next to the police station in the middle of the new part of the city.
Hurghada has some beautiful beaches. You can go swimming. When it's windy, you mustn't miss windsurfing(帆板运动). It's really exciting. What's more, taking a boat trip to the islands around Hurghada isn't a bad idea. You can also go fishing from a boat.
In Hurghada, you shouldn't walk too much in the sun. It is best to visit places around early in the morning. Don't forget to go to the market in the old part of the city. It's a good place to buy souvenirs(纪念品) for your family or friends.
Have a great time! And I have been looking forward to our first meeting since we said goodbye last year. I really miss you and our teachers.
Salma
Many parents make their children do chores around the house. For some families, teaching children what to do and how to do chores is easy. But in other families, getting children to do some housework can be a very big problem.
It is a good idea for parents to teach their children at an early age that all family members must work together to make the house clean, and each person must do his or her share(份) of the work. We can do this by starting a plan for chores and responsibilities when children are young.
Chores are good for children—even very young ones. Doing chores teaches children many important skills(技能) such as working together and being responsible. Doing chores also teaches children what fairness(公平) is. The skills and values(价值) from doing chores will do good to children all their lives.
14-year-old Jo Hale is in a middle school in the northeast of England. She has to wear the school uniform every day.
When Jo was in primary school, she could wear trousers as part of the uniforms. But when she went to the middle school, she found that girls couldn't wear them anymore. Jo didn't like it because she felt cold in winter. Though many girls had the problem, the school didn't change its rules about uniforms. Jo said,"If you are in class doing your work, what difference does it make if you are wearing trousers?"
Jo's mother, Claire, a teacher at a university, also agreed that the rules about uniforms in her daughter's school were not that good. "The women teachers can wear trousers, but the girl students can't,"she said. "Trousers are more practical(实用的) in fact. They are warmer in winter and cheaper to wear than a skirt. "
Claire tried to talk Jo's school leaders(领导) out of that, and finally, they changed the rules. Now Jo and the other girls at the school can wear skirts or trousers as they like.
