My best friend in the school was Tom. We met each other at the 1 of six. We were in the 2 class. We sat together and always played together during the break. His family lived 3 my family. We went to school together every day. In summer holidays, we went swimming at the 4 . We played for a long time in the sand. Then his family moved to another city. I missed the happy 5 very much.
Sandy moved to England last year. Now she lives in Oxford with her family. She has a colourful life there. Sometimes, she goes to her grandparents' home during weekends. They live in the city centre of London. So, there are lots of activities to do. She can go to museums-----the British Museum, or the Natural History Museum. She can know about all the animals past and present in the Natural History Museum. Sometimes, her parents take her to visit the London Eye, too. Sandy also has picnics with her parents and grandparents in Hide Park or Regent's park. That's amazing.
Sophie was a curious (好奇的) girl. She always thought about what the future would be like. One day, she went on a trip to the future. She saw many amazing things that she didn't see before. First, she saw flying cars in the sky. They were flying very fast. Then, she saw a robot walking a dog. The robot did a good job! How surprising! Finally, she saw a huge building high up to the clouds. It was a hotel. Robots helped serve (服务) the people. The city in the future was really fantastic.
People in the world live on the average of 72. In three areas of the world, Ecuador, Italy and Japan, a very high number of people live to be 100. Scientists want to know why. In Ecuador, there is a small village, Vilcabamba. People call it "the Valley of Long Life." The weather here is not very hot or very cold and the air is very clean. People work hard and exercise a lot. They have a healthy diet. They eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and they don't eat meat or fish very often. The water they drink is from the river which is rich in minerals. They also have good social life. People here always say: "The left leg and the right leg help you to be healthy, because they take you to your friends' homes."
Our future
Scientists give their predictions (预测) about life in the future.
Will there be schools in the future? Yes, children will still go to school, but schools will be very different. There will still be teachers, but computers will teach some lessons. Some students will study at home and learn in virtual (虚拟的) classrooms. Virtual reality will give them an image of a classroom in three dimensions - or 3D. They will see their teacher and their friends, so they will feel like they are really at school. |
Will computers understand what we say to them? Computers will be more intelligent (智能). They will understand what we say, what we think and how we feel. In the future, people and computers will be part of a huge radio network. We will send messages from our brain to our computer and the computer will send messages straight (直接地) to our brain, without using wires. When you want to learn new things. Our computer will send the information straight to our brain. |
What will clothes be like? In a few years there will be clothes with soft TV screens in them. You will be able to change the pattern on your T-shirt. You can show music videos on your clothes while you are dancing. |
Will we have robots to help us? In the future, we will have lots of very clever robots. The robots will be very small, but they will be everywhere. They will clean our homes and make our meals. |
