The adult(成年人) brain weighs about three pounds. This doesn't seem like much, but it is one of the most1 parts in the human body. The brain is made up of so many nerve cells(神经细胞). These nerve cells tell exactly the rest2 the human body what to do. Without a brain, we could not live.
The brain is like the body's3 . It controls the temperature of the human body and helps us breathe(呼吸). The brain allows the body to4 , think and speak. Different parts of the brain have different jobs. The brain tells us when we are hungry and thirsty. It also5 us remember and feel.
The brain6 energy(能量) stored in the bodies as it works. 7 we need to get more energy. To keep our brains and the rest of our bodies working right, we need to eat8 foods, like vegetables, fruits and milk. We also need to keep our brains9 . Because research has shown that the less active our10 are, the less we are able to remember and do. So keep moving, thinking and doing things. It's great for your brain.
Daniel noticed a folded(折叠的) piece of paper at the bottom of Leo's lunchbox. He unfolded the paper and read it in a loud1 , "Dear Leo, I hope you have a great day. Love, Mom. "and laughed2 puts a note in your lunchbox? " Daniel read the note again, and he seemed to want to have it too. I advised Daniel to give it back to Leo. But he threw the note, which made Leo very3 .
I told my older brother what had4 between Leo and Daniel. My brother asked angrily, "What would Daniel do if someone did the same thing to him? " "Daniel5 gets a note from his parents, " I answered. Suddenly, I had an idea which would6 the problem. I explained the7 idea to my brother and then we worked on the plan together.
At lunchtime the next day, I hurried to the dining hall and set out 23 pieces of paper on a table. Each piece of paper had a(n)8 of a classmate. I noticed Daniel pick up the note with his name on it. I knew what was9 on it, "Daniel, I'm glad you're in my class. Have a nice day!" I could see Daniel's smile as he put the note into his pocket.
And later, I am glad to see that10 good happens to my classmates—they get closer to each other so that our class is becoming a big family.

Cycle ball
This sport is like football on bikes. There are two teams. Each team has usually got two players. Players in each team try to hit the ball into the goal. They can use their bikes or their heads to do this. The winning team is the team with the most goals at the end of the game.
Gilli﹣danda
This is an ancient sport from India. The players use two things: one long stick, called a danda and a short egg﹣shaped bat, called a gilli. There are two teams. One player puts the gilli on the ground inside a small circle and hits it into the air with the danda. Then the player hits the gilli again and runs to touch a spot outside the circle to get a point.
Octopush
The sport is also called underwater hockey(曲棍球). There are two teams. Each team has got six players. Players swim underwater to play this game. They use small sticks and a puck. The puck is a little like a ball. Players try to push the puck along the bottom of a swimming pool into the other team's goal. The winning team is the team with the most goals at the end of the match.

Do you think only humans are crazy about electronic products? You are wrong. 12 zoos in the United States and Canada have carried out a programme called Apps for Apes(大猩猩). It has found that the apes are also interested in playing iPads just like humans.
"We find that, similar to people, the apes like touching the screen and watching short videos, a manager of the programme.
The apes in these zoos can play iPads twice a week. Every time, they spend from 15 minutes to half an hour using different apps in iPads. They are most interested in apps for children, such as drawing(记忆) games.
Zimmerman said, "It's like when we're showing popup books(立体书) to children. The apes are among the smartest animals. They are as clever as young children. "
The workers in the zoo are also studying how communication apps can help the apes better. "We find that an ape has a toothache. He would be able to touch a picture of a tooth on the iPad and communicate in that way, " said Zimmerman.
The programme wants to make people pay attention to the living problems of apes in the wild. The apes are in danger because people cut down too many forests.
Frank and his brother Jack lived near the ocean. Frank was outgoing while Jack was shy. They liked doing different things. Frank was famous for organizing games of beach volleyball, football, and any other sport imaginable. Jack preferred to draw, or build sandcastles(沙堡).
Frank didn't understand why Jack would rather do artistic things than play ball. He believed sports often allowed many kids to play together. That was when Jack's idea hatched. He would show Frank what doing things together looked like!
After Jack finished creating a special sandcastle with stairs, towers and walls, he took pictures of it. Then he painted colorful posters featuring(突出)his sandcastle and the question, "Can you top this? " He hung his posters everywhere in town, announcing his plan for a day of sandcastle artistry-all ages welcome.
When Frank saw poster, he not so nicely told Jack that no one would come. Still, shortly after sunrise on Saturday, four kids were sculpting(雕塑)the sand alongside him. By noon the number had increased a lot.
After Frank came back from his ball game, he went to check how his brother's plan turned out. He couldn't believe what he saw. At least 30 people were building a city of sandcastles, and everyone was chatting and laughing and working together !It was the most beautiful thing he had seen on the beach.
"I guess you've proved me wrong, " Frank said. "You should make this sandcastle day a yearly tradition!" Handing Frank a shovel(铲子)with smile, Jack got started together with his brother on their super creation in the sand.
"Are you listening, Simon? "Simon's teacher asked. It was a pretty usual question.
Simon shook his head, smiling. He hardly listened or tried hard in class. Talking was so much fun. He wanted to be heard rather than listen.
"Listen, and you'll learn something. " Mrs. Jacobs tried every day, but Simon never paid attention.
That evening, his throat really hurt. The next morning, when he opened his mouth to say "Good morning"
Simon's mother looked at him. "Honey, you've lost your voice. "
"Can I stay home? " He tried to ask, but words didn't come out. Instead, his mother checked him for a fever and decided it was good for him to go to school.
When he got to school, Mrs. Jacobs said "Hello" to him, and he just nodded. When his friends asked him what TV shows he watched last night, almost everyone was looking at him as if he'd grown a third eye.
Penny raised her hand. "Mrs. Jacobs, why isn't Simon talking? "
"He never stops talking, " Richard said worriedly.
Everyone started talking at once. They were excited, worried, and surprised.
Simon sat in class, bored. He watched them talk to each other as if the teacher wasn't there, but he couldn't even do that. In math class he could hold up fingers if the answer was less than 10
He could do his homework that night. It gave him TV and game time with his work all done.
The next day, even though his voice was coming back, he stayed quiet again. The third day, but he listened and raised his hand to speak.
What a difference that one day made!

It's natural for you to feel sad when some people are rude to you. However, what I'd like to say is: try to understand others, and let the sad moments go.
Last Sunday, when I was shopping, I met an old friend of mine(收银员) at a nearby store. What made her sad was that sometimes the customers were rude to her at the store. She said that it even made her a little bit nervous when she worked.
"Well, I think I can understand, " I said. "You know, and I had sad moments as well. Sometimes patients and their family members could be very rude, but I tried to understand them. I let the sad moments go and just try to do my job well. "
She looked a little relaxed after hearing my words. "How kind and friendly a girl you are!" she said. We talked for another while and then she went to work with a big smile on her face.
In fact, as long as we try to understand others, our life will be better and better.
